I know this might be a bit early, but…. Happy Halloween!!! 🎃🎃👻💀

VFX created by Alexei Brooke

Original footage by @peter__timberlake - https://www.petertimberlake.com/openingghost

Software: Nuke (VFX) and Adobe Premiere Pro (editing)

Music - “Midnight, the Stars and You”, by Al Bowlly

Fun fact: I added the two film posters as a tribute to the golden aspects of 1950s Hollywood cinema: trashy B-movies and Sirkian melodrama with Rock Hudson, the heartthrob himself (who was taken too soon, poor soul):

Bride of the Monster (1955, dir. Ed Wood, starring Bela Lugosi)

Written on the Wind (1956, dir. Douglas Sirk, starring Rock Hudson)

I was also inspired by the usage of Penarth Pier as the 1950s cinema for the Doctor Who episode “Lux” (2025), of which I personally witnessed filming in late January 2024, during my second year at the University of South Wales. I used my personal photographs from watching them set up the decor as a visual reference as well.

Reflecting on my little trip to Turin, so many highlights!!! I was very impressed by the Obsession talk by vfx supervisor @peter__timberlake I had no idea how impressively subtle and clever the vfx were that went into Nikki’s expressions!! Also loved the Resident Evil talk by vfx sup Alessandro Ongaro, so much effort is put into the zombie creatures, prosthetics and fx work. Also loved Brad birds talk on Ray Gunn and Tyree Dillihay’s @sneadsbyree talk on GOAT! Also a fantastic walk through of the vfx in our very own #houseofthedragon !! By @dadieinarsson
And a real pleasure to meet Sir Roger Deakins and James Ellis Deakins
My key take away is how inspiring it is to hear other true creatives describe their process and see the passion they have in what they do!! 👏👏
And it was so much fun giving my own talk on the Monday!! 😃
Such a great week, thank you so much @view_conference and @megutierrez.to for a wonderful few days in Turin. Great friends, talented artists, great company!! #viewconference #viewconference2026

Peeling back the render from my @fiaformulae X @saudi_airlines spot. All renders were done in @unrealengine 5.5, with lens effects done in post.

I wanted to include a note about slides 2 and 4- these were my first experiments bringing AI into our pipeline in what I think was an ethical way of utilizing it as tool. Using our renders as baseline, I brought them into Veo with a simple task- add human eyes behind the visor, and add a dash of burnout sim to the back wheel. After a lot of trial and error I got something I felt was usable. To me it was a nice way to spice up the directors cut in a pinch, and still kept my creative vision at the front of it. Would I rather have spent the money on a proper sim artist? Yes. But it was a fun experiment nonetheless and pretty wild to watch it work.
