Outside Under St. Mark’s after closing night of GHOSTCREATOR 💀 photos by Sean McCullough. Thank you to everyone who came to our run during FRIGID’s ShakesPUNK Festival.

"The images were so stunning and the moments of escalation followed by silence and the beautiful moments of unison made my heart leap. I really felt like my creative cup was filled when I left the theatre." - Del (audience member)

We are very grateful. Stay tuned for what’s to come! 🫡

“The sun’s setting is an end.
But not of you.
But not of me.
This nothing’s more than matter.
Be.”

Thank you to everyone who came to the opening performance of @studiochildnyc's “Ghostcreator” at FRIGID New York's Little Shakespeare Festival last week. You only have three more chances to see this haunting theatrical event!

“Ghostcreator” is a laboratory creation of Studio Child, the resident acting studio of Arthouse2B. It premiered in May 2026, and is being remounted this month at Under St. Mark’s Theater as part of FRIGID NY’s Little Shakespeare Festival.

Cindy Hernandez Mathis recently wrote about her experience seeing the first iteration of the play back in May for Cracks in Postmodernity:

“The ghost that haunts Hamlet, his father of the same name, disappears as soon as the cock crows in his first appearance in Shakespeare's play. A prophecy is fulfilled in that moment, or rather a truth unveiled. The ghost cannot be seen in the light of day. It tells us what it is, and where it remains: purgatory.

It's in the despair of what cannot yet be seen that we find ourselves in Ghostcreator, the latest play by Karina Pooran Majewski. This same ghost, whether materialized as an onstage presence, a voice recording whispering behind curtains upon curtains, or some other entity that is captured in the mysticism of theatre, is given a voice to air its suffering. Rather than giving advice, or asking people to perform a seance to bring it to life, it lays where it must be for the sanctity of its salvation.”

💫✨GHOSTCREATOR returns!✨💫

Didn’t get a chance to see the premiere of Studio Child’s Ghostcreator earlier this year? Or are you looking forward to a chance to dive deeper into this haunting and compelling new work?

Either way, grab your tickets for Ghostcreator at FRIGID New York’s Little Shakespeare Festival! The theme this year is ShakesPUNK, and our resident acting studio is slated for four performances of their radical, subversive “pean to the Mystical in the theatre, with echoes of Hamlet’s ghost”.

Invoking the ghost in Hamlet as a touchstone, Ghostcreator is a blend of heightened, poetic text with occasional song and physical performance, consistent with Studio Child’s experimental practice. Astute audiences will catch frequent textual allusions to Hamlet, while others with a deeper familiarity with Shakespeare’s play will recognize thematic overlap in themes of longing, death, and metaphysical inquiry.

We hope to see you there!

When:
Sunday, August 9th at 7pm
Saturday, August 15 at 9pm
Thursday, August 20th at 9pm
Sunday, August 23rd at 7pm

Where:
Under St. Mark’s Theater
94 St. Mark’s Place
New York, NY 10009

Arthouse2B is not affiliated with, sponsoring, or presenting the Little Shakespeare Festival. While our resident acting studio is participating, the festival is organized and operated solely by FRIGID New York.

Don’t miss your chance to see Studio Child’s GHOSTCREATOR as part of FRIGID New York’s Little Shakespeare Festival!

A paean to the Mystical in the theater, with echoes of Hamlet’s ghost…

‘Ghostcreator’ is the newest theatrical work developed by Studio Child, a NYC-based theater laboratory engaged in long-term performance research and development.

Invoking the ghost in Hamlet as a touchstone, the piece is a blend of heightened, poetic text with occasional song and physical performance, consistent with Studio Child’s experimental practice. Astute audiences will catch frequent textual allusions to Hamlet, while others with a deeper familiarity with Shakespeare’s play will recognize thematic overlap in themes of longing, death, and metaphysical inquiry.

The performance is ritualistic and poetic, with striking imagery and visceral moments. It’s a work one can get lost in, that defies easy classification, but that nonetheless conveys a strong theatrical experience.

“This piece began as an adaptation of Hamlet and, at its heart, still is,” reflects director James T. Majewski. “It compellingly illustrates how Shakespeare’s text can take just about anything that’s thrown at it — and that the Bard today is as potent a catalyst for daring theatrical experimentation as he’s ever been.”

Written by Karina Pooran Majewski. Featuring Lydia Brinkmann, Vincenzo Hinckley, James & Karina Majewski, and Peter Murphy. Lights by Lydia Brinkmann.

✈️ Big news! Studio Child is heading to Poland in less than two weeks! 🇵🇱

We are thrilled to announce that four members of Studio Child will be traveling to Poland to train with Teatr ZAR! This is an incredible opportunity to work closely with a company that has been a key inspiration for the experimental work of the Studio.

To help make this journey possible, we’re raising funds to cover airfare, workshop fees, and other travel expenses. If you’re able to contribute, any amount helps. You can donate through the GoFundMe linked in our bio.

If you are not able to donate, please consider sharing our fundraiser with anyone who might be interested in supporting our work.

We’re so excited to see the fruits of this experience in our work in the Studio here in NYC, including in the development of new performances!

Thank you so much for being part of our journey.❣️
