Thank you to Traditional Building Magazine — published by our own moderator, Peter H. Miller — for being the media sponsor of "Built to Last." For decades, Traditional Building has connected the architects, craftspeople, and suppliers keeping the classical tradition alive across the country. They've covered our own backyard, too — including a feature on panelist Michael Bjornberg's Minnesota State Capitol restoration work. Traditional Building also runs the industry's Traditional Building Conference Series, with its next stop in Charleston, SC on November 3–4 — where David Riccio, of sponsor John Canning & Co., will be speaking on historic plaster conservation. #thankyouforyoursupport #eventsponsors #eventsponsorship #traditionalbuilding #HistoricPreservation #ICAAMN #ICAAChicagoMidwest #classicist

@tomkligerman discusses his new book, “Summer by the Sea: Cottages from Watch Hill to Little Compton,” in @traditionalbuildingmagazine. “...it really became a thank-you letter to the state of Rhode Island, which I’ve been visiting since I was 10 years old. I decided to expand beyond architecture. It’s a story told through 16 houses, but I wanted to tell the story of Rhode Island, its history, its geology, shipwrecks, lighthouses. I wanted to tell a more complete story, and these houses became the vehicle for me to do that. It’s an ode to the state. It’s an ode to the coast.” –Tom Kligerman Architecture + Design: @kligerman.ad @tomkligerman Featured in: @traditionalbuildingmagazine Words by: @peterhmillertrad

Eberlein Design Consultants’ President and Creative Director, Barbara Eberlein, joined a distinguished national jury for the 2026 Palladio Awards, @traditionalbuildingmagazine and @periodhomes premier honor for excellence in classical and traditional design hosted by publisher Peter H. Miller, Hon AIA. Charged with selecting the year’s finest work from nearly one hundred entries across residential, commercial, institutional, and ecclesiastical categories, the jury faced what Barbara called “an embarrassment of riches.” The caliber was such that deliberations ran several weeks, yet in every category, the decisions were unanimous. “It’s a master class in design, architecture, landscape architecture, and craft,” she reflected. “You come out knowing far more than you knew going in, even though you’re considered the expert.” To be asked to judge the best work in one’s field is its own quiet distinction: a recognition, by one’s peers, of a lifetime spent in service of beauty, scholarship, and the enduring principles of traditional design.
