In my review of the @trematicwatch Archivio Uno Ref. 502 Oscuro, I made a questionable connection to James Bond’s Spectre in the sense that I imagined its members would feel at home sporting a blacked-out dress watch. Well, whether or not they would, the Oscuro commands a singular wrist presence I was pleasantly surprised to like this much.

For reference, the case measures 38 x 45.5 x 11mm thick and that’s how it wears on my 6.50”/16.5cm wrist.

Wearing the @heronwatches Continental Blue reminds me of the reason why I love time-only sports/exploration/field watches so much: they’re versatile and legible, and remind me that at any moment, wherever we are, we can go on a little adventure. They represent a type of lifestyle that resonates with me deeply.

And the Continental is also so comfortable to wear on my 6.50”/16.5cm wrist: the 37 x 43 x 11mm case is just about perfect for me.

My search for the next best strap for my 18mm lug width’ed tool watches led me to the @zulualphastraps Khaki nylon strap. Hands-down one of the most solid and thoughtfully designed fabric fastening systems made of heavyweight nylon, properly heat-sealed large eyelets, a solid buckle attached to the strap by way of a screwed-in pin, and a nice darker khaki color.

(There are stains on the strap because I’ve actually used it!) Bonus points: it’s handmade in the UK and comes in this RAF configuration with a large keeper, or single-pass with two smaller metal keepers, as well as “Full OTAN”—you know that it means.

Absolutely worth the asking £70/$93-ish USD.

They’ve done it! @formexwatch managed to make one of the best watches I’ve ever reviewed and owned even better, through seemingly minute changes that make a whole world of difference.

A screw-down crown, a Sellita SW220-2 with its improvised power reserve, and a new tool-less and on-the-fly micro-adjustment mechanism perfectly integrated with the Essence 39’s compact angular case.

The Radiant Bronze dial is also something quite remarkable: gun-metal hands and applied markers, playing with the light and pearlescent finish of the dial and its CNC-machined grooves magnificently. Man oh man!

Well, some reviews feel more special than others and this one is a special one: the @chronofactum x @squaleofficial 1521 UCB, the modern and faithful recreation of the 1975 Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bund 3H made for German underwater commandos is…well…wow 🤩

I love the ultra legible dial, the “C1” marking for C1 SuperLuminova replacing the “H3” of the Blancpain’s tritium lume, the polished rehaut which mirrors the hour markers making the dial even easier to read, and the iconic large orange minute hand.

Taking a first look at the @fareruniversal Pilot Series II Barnwell. The most visually extravagant Type B Flieger I’ve seen so far, and as technically capable as any other professional tool watch on the market: an élaboré Sellita SW300-1 caliber protected by a soft-iron cage for 500 Gauss of anti-magnetic resistance, 100 meters of water resistance, X2 Grade SuperLuminova, and a PVD-coated grade 2 titanium case. Price: $1,525. But that dial!
