The newest addition to our studio tools at Misty Morning Crafts - our very own #peterpugger pug mill! Like all our equipment and supplies, we bought it at FL Clay Art Co is Sanford, FL!

Partly because this beauty arrived a couple of days early, we haven't yet landed on a name or personality, but it will be up and mixing clay for us and getting it ready for our students very soon!

Fun fact: we pug around half a ton of clay per quarter, & over 2 tons of recycled clay per year with our full classes & summer camps! 😱😁⚖️

We've had our legendary Peter Pugger @peterpuggermanufacturing for almost two decades & it's still running strong 💪🤟

And for those new to pottery, yes, your trimming scraps and hardened clay can always be recycled! ♻️ 🥳 🎉

My favorite piece of equipment in the studio. She is called THOR. She processes and de-airs clay. So all the trimmings, bits and pieces, sloppy clay mush get recycled and reused. Not a scrap of clay goes to waste. As long as it has not been fired, Thor turns it into new clay for another pot. Not only is this amazing machine a space and time saver it has saved my wrists and body from hrs of recycle wedging and processing. I ordered this a few months before covid and man, that was good timing. @peterpuggermanufacturing

a slow day at the studio 🤎

A few hundred pounds of clay + one very hardworking pug mill later lol.

Instead of hand wedging all of our recycled clay, we run it through the pug mill to compress it, remove air pockets, and get it ready to be used all over again.

One of those behind-the-scenes pottery things you don’t always get to see. ♻️

Did you know clay could be recycled like this?

I only have one reclaim bucket and its current status is EMPTY. This is truly a miracle in a production pottery studio. My Peter Pugger Pugmill was worth every penny. My hands and back are also incredibly thankful.

Pete and I got a lot a work to dooooo!!
So thankful for @peterpuggermanufacturing arguably the most important machine in a community studio! 👍🏼
•A pug machine is essentially a sausage maker for clay, stuff in the clay- mix it up- vacuum seal- and out comes some fresh logs of clay!
