Part 3 of Spend vs save: multi-cat households 🐈🐈‍⬛ with multiple cats, I think the biggest investment is often less about buying more and more about planning better. More litter locations, vertical territory + scratching opportunities can help reduce competition. More cats doesn’t necessarily equal more stuff. The goal is for them to have enough choice, territory + access to the resources they actually use. What have you found works best in your multi-cat home? (some photos sourced from Pinterest - please DM for credit)

What’s in my bowl? 🍽️
(The cutest bowls are from @petjojo.official and mat is from @wildone ! Spoon is from a renaissance faire, sorry)

I’m a little different from most kitties and I have one kidney, mom pays extra attention to what goes into my food. 🥹🤍

⋆⊱༻𖥸༺⊰⋆

Hydration for all cats but especially Junie is a BIG priority, so wet food and plenty of moisture are important parts of the diet. 💦 A high moisture diet can help support healthy hydration, especially for cats who may need a little extra consideration for kidney health.

I also look beyond just the ingredients. Things like phosphorus, protein content, calories, and overall nutrient balance matter too. Phosphorus is an essential nutrient, but because the kidneys play an important role in maintaining phosphorus balance, it’s something we keep an eye on when choosing food. 🫶

I was very fortunate to spend most of my life as an emergency veterinary nurse and pursue that love into attending vet school to learn about all this.
My job is to read food labels for all ingredients and macros, Junie is here to make sure the bowl is properly taste tested. 😌🐾

Every kitty is different, and nutritional needs especially for cats with kidney concerns should be discussed with your vet! This is the basics to her diet, additional food additives/toppings are specific to her ☺️
