While we're feverishly working on getting galleries from the high school postseason online (as well as diving straight into spring sports senior banners), we're also working on a few posters to commemorate several schools on their state championship.

Today's sneak peek features Lowry's girls' basketball team, which won the state title last month for its third in a row, a feat never accomplished by the program until last week. This poster will feature images that we've taken of every player on these three teams since Lowry began the streak in 2022, defeating Spring Creek at Cox Pavillion in Las Vegas.

We'll have this one, as well as a few other girls' basketball special edition posters completed and available for ordering later this month. Others include Pyramid Lake's back-to-back titles, Manogue's first championship in 20 years and Spanish Springs' first win and appearance in the finals.

In a pair of clashes between the best girls teams in the region, No. 1 Fernley and No. 3 Lowry advanced to next week's 3A state tournament.

Lowry, the defending state champ, used a 31-3 run to break open a close game in the second quarter to defeat No. 2 North Valleys, 74-52. The Panthers, though, fought back in the second half before the Buckaroos closed the door on their Cinderella season.

In the other semifinal, Elko gave Fernley everything it could handle, leading most of the first half, before the Vaqueros scored the final eight points in the second quarter to take a three-point lead at the break and never look back. Fernley held Elko to 14 second-half points to win 44-32.

Both Lowry and Fernley meet for the third time this season when they take the floor on Saturday at noon for the Northern 3A regional championship at North Valleys High School.
