I am very honored to announce that I have graduated with my PhD in Exercise Science from Mississippi State University. This would not have been possible without the guidance and unwavering support of my mentor, Dr. JohnEric Smith, and my committee. I would not have made it without the encouragement and involvement of my peers and friends, as well. The past four years have been an incredible journey and I have been so excited to pursue expertise in heat acclimatization, hydration, and energy expenditure in active and occupational populations. I am so appreciative to everyone who helped plan, collect data, and participated in my research. My time at MSU was the best possible launching pad for my career in research and education and I am excited to keep moving forward now as an Assistant Professor at my Alma Mater @mschristianuniversity (previously Mississippi College).

Hail State! 🐾♥️

I am incredibly proud and honored to announce that I passed my dissertation defense this past month. I am very grateful for all the support and encouragement from my committee, mentors, and peers throughout this entire process. It was an awesome adventure partnering with farmers all over the state of Mississippi to make this happen, and I am so excited to use this project to support the agricultural community in MS.

Thank you especially to Rosie Perez, Sally Barfield, Allison Brown, and Peyton Horn for your assistance in data collection; to my committee Dr. Brent Ruby, Dr. Zach Gillen, Dr. Adam Knight, and my committee chair and incredible advisor Dr. JohnEric Smith for their never-ending support; as well as Timothy Shriver and Dr. Michele Ravelli at UW-Madison for their assistance in sample analysis. And big shoutout to my family and friends who have encouraged me along the way!

I’ll be posting again soon about career steps happening as I finish up this final semester at MSU with the totally awesome super cool HEaT Lab. Not done yet! 🔥
