UNC didn’t just beat Cal—they controlled the game through constant structural changes. 👀🐏

The Tar Heels defended in a 4-4-2, but once they had possession, the shape became a 4-3-3.

Kennedy and Pennie formed a double pivot, creating a box with the center backs and wide triangles for easy circulation.

That gave Bella Devey freedom to operate in the left half-space while UNC isolated its wingers 1v1.

Once possession was established, the structure shifted again.

UNC moved into a 3-3-4 with a 3+2 build, pushing Manning onto the last line to attack out wide.

Then Denigan or Stanislaus could drop into midfield, transforming the shape into a 3-4-3 and creating another central overload.

In the final third, UNC kept seven players connected and interchangeable, while the center backs controlled the channels underneath.

Different structures. Same objective: create the free player and keep Cal pinned in.
