Drastic times call for drastic measures. @peyts16

YES - you can swing right
YES - you are capable of not having the face 30 degrees shut at the top
YES - you can have it fall left
YES - I flinched a little, but I was scared!

Great evening celebrating @aminake4’s completion of our research fellowship! Ghislain Aminake has been a welcome member of our @ochsnerortho sports medicine team and his research will help athletes in Louisiana and around the world. Ghislain and his wonderful family have traveled around the world as he gained experience in some of the best Orthopaedic centers @aspetar @chl_luxembourg @ochsnerhealth. We are excited for the next step of his journey at @fowlerkennedysportmedicine but will miss him at @ochsnerbatonrouge. Thankful to have @anthony_t_drazick to continue on with the #sportsmedicineresearch.

Thank you @arthrexneworleans for the continued support of our Orthopaedic and sports medicine research programs and investing in medical education. Shoutout to @chloeroy_ who is the glue that keeps our research program going as well as @emily.holmes.clark @savannah_knighton @edaustinbr @chrisfocht and many others!

Reckon some of you have been wondering where the hell I’ve been for the last few months. Besides the normal madness of life, I’ve been trying to catch up on 4 years of work at my property, which I had been previously incapable due to my C-PTSD. Aside from all of that, we had a lot of visitors spend several days with us throughout the summer.

The photos ought to give some idea of what I’ve been doing.

1. The back deck (24’x12’) needed some repairs. Then I expanded it by adding a 14’x12’ extension, as well as a 14’x14’ deck around the hot tub. This photo shows the two new decks I built.

2, 3, 4. The original steps/entrance to the house needed replacing. So I ripped them out, built a new set, and then redid the railing on the front deck to match the new entrance area.

5, 6, 7. Cooking has become a passion. I created my own area on the original back deck, which is partially roofed… my outdoor kitchen, I call it. The photos are of a brisket on the Traeger smoker, burgers on the Napoleon BBQ, and fajitas on the Weber griddle.

8, 9. I saved a newly born red-breasted robin… its nest had been knocked down to the ground, which unfortunately broke the eggs of its two siblings. This one was cared for by its momma for a few weeks, and then flew out on its own.

10, 11. My grandmother, the matriarch of the Peyton clan, passed away a couple weeks ago. She was one month shy of her 101st birthday. An absolutely amazing woman… when her husband (my grandfather) passed away in 1993, she moved into a one-level duplex, took lessons and got her driver’s license, and continued to enjoy life to the fullest. She lived on her own in that duplex, receiving only home care for the last few months. She passed away peacefully in her own bed & her own house. My brother flew in from Louisiana… we drove to North Sydney, took the 7-hour ferry to Port-aux-Basques, and drove into Stephenville for her wake & funeral.

12. Formal night on the cruise. Yup, I essentially mocked all the uppity-uppity people with tuxedos and bank. Just me being the dick I often am. 😉

There’s been a ton more, including continuing my academic studies from @yorkvilleu. Been busy! And now I’m off again!
