Book review - May We Feed the King by Rebecca Perry

Big props to May We Feed the King, a book that felt fresh and quirky and unlike any other book I’ve read. Told in three parts with an epilogue we explore how a history can be spun. I was very interested in the mysterious curator and the gaps in her background and wanted more from this section. The chapter titles are so creative and on point and the story structure successfully sets the reader up to ponder the big questions after closing the book. It inspired me to present a mini Ted talk to the kids on the way to school and they listened and didn’t interrupt. A big win!

Have you read May We Feed the King? Did it make you think big thoughts?

Booker shortlist prediction: oof! I’m really on the fence. Can I just be a fence sitter? Ok - if pressed I’m going to say no. But maybe!

Thank you to @pgcbooks for kindly sending me an advanced copy. What a gorgeous book!

Intense, aching, and emotional!⁣
⁣
𝐁𝐈𝐑𝐃𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐀 𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 is a beautifully messy, dark, consuming romance between the guarded, haunted Tyler and the fierce, enigmatic Larissa as two people shaped by secrets, loss, duty, and impossible expectations collide and discover that sometimes the greatest danger isn’t falling in love but allowing yourself to be known.⁣
⁣
The prose is evocative and passionate. The characters are layered, wounded, and resilient. And the plot is an absorbing, suspenseful tale about love, loss, family, loyalty, brotherhood, sacrifice, secrets, trauma, forgiveness, courage, obsession, redemption, and second chances.⁣
⁣
Overall, 𝐁𝐈𝐑𝐃𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐀 𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 is a poignant, angsty, bittersweet addition to the 𝘙𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘓𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘤𝘺 by Stewart that delivers all the emotional intensity, complicated relationships, and unforgettable characters I’ve come to expect from this author.⁣⁣
