🚨 PRESS RELEASE 🚨

Omaha is buried in its first snowstorm of the year, but Vidal and the Shadowy Figures are burning white-hot. Britt Fiero: The Domino Effect

An Interview with Vidal and the Shadowy Figures
by Phantom Frequency

Omaha is buried under its first snowstorm of the year, the streets hushed, save for the distant hum of tires over ice. But inside a Midtown coffeehouse on Valentine’s Day, Vidal and the Shadowy Figures played to a packed room—a “Lost and Lonelyhearts Club” night out, the kind where ghosts of old romances sit at empty tables, nodding along.

The band’s debut, The First Domino, is spreading like whispered legend. I catch up with Britt Fiero, the mastermind behind VSF, as he fine-tunes an already detuned guitar, still radiating from the show.

Phantom Frequency: The First Domino is gaining serious traction. Did you expect this?

Britt Fiero: Expectation is a trap. We made something that felt like a fever dream, like a signal flickering in and out of range. And people picked up on it. Maybe because we didn’t chase them down—just left the transmission open.

PF: Your sound has this warped, hypnotic quality. What’s driving that?

BF: The sound of gravity pulling everything down, bending light, smearing time. Now, every note you play drags through the air just a little slower, just a little deeper—like a reel-to-reel machine losing voltage, like a signal sinking into the ocean.

PF: You opened the year with a sold-out Valentine’s show. What was the energy like?

BF: Like a slow dance in a dream, but you’re not sure whose dream it is. We weren’t playing at people—we were playing through them. Everyone in the room was a tuning fork, vibrating.

PF: And next?

BF: Mostly Peaceful. That’s the next album. It needs to feel like yoga music for the haunted. A tightrope between stillness and free fall. If The First Domino cracked open a door, this one steps through it.

Outside, the snow keeps falling. The world slows down. Somewhere in Omaha, a record spins at the wrong speed, and it’s perfect. Pickup your limited edition green cassette tape @recycledsounds_omaha @firstdayvinyl

Time to get to know the band!

Zach aka “Nitehawk” aka “Divine Conduit” (him/him)(Gemini) calls every song “sex” but no one has ever seen him have sex 👀. He might not always bring his bass to rehearsal but he does bring the vibes (and sometimes beer). I would say you should give him a DM for a good time, but his phone is probably dead 🤷🏾‍♂️.
