saved on my library queue. can’t remember who told me about it… but now i want to recommend it to everyone.

“the other side of now” by paige harbison completely surprised me.
friendship, grief, and the life you might have lived if things had gone differently.

i went in knowing very little and came out feeling a lot of things (in the best way)

what was the last book that caught you completely off guard?

📚 Book Review 📚

Destination Funeral
@pharbeaux

What a fun read this was! I picked it up this morning and kept reading every chance I got until it was done. I loved all the characters from sisters Didion and Sammie to friends of the family Matt and Austin! They each had so much depth and their own issues and struggles. It made them feel real and I could see myself in each them.

The author combines such a serious topic with a little bit of humour and a little bit of romance making the hard parts feel a little less hard. I loved that they were given the opportunity to walk through their choices and learn from their past. Plus it makes you think about how we will all experience loss at some point in our lives and how we will cope. And maybe give a little thought to those we may have lost touch with. Ultimately, it just made me root for everyone to get to be happy at the end.

I don't want to give too much away but all I can say is that I loved it and eould highly recommend this if you are looking for a feel good, complicated, romance story!

Thanks to @stmartinspress and @netgalley for my gifted e-copy!!!

I'm not exaggerating when I say The Other Side of Now is easily one of my favorite books of all time. ✨ While reading the synopsis, I thought it was written just for me (woman spontaneously flees to small Irish town to escape reality?!? sign me up!!!), and from the literal first page, I was hooked. Somehow, beyond the perfectly-executed magical realist plot (my favorite!!!), the best part about this book is that the absolutely swoon-worthy romance is SECONDARY to the utterly incredible female friendships and personal growth our FMC cultivates along the way. I have yet to read a book that does both so well. Be warned: I was sobbing through the entire last act (in a good way). I'm so happy this story exists. I want to live in it. 📖🧺💐✨🫶💜

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Got my cousins hooked on Paige Harbison too, and after bonding over TOSON we buddy-read Destination Funeral, and our mini book club meets tomorrow, can you tell I'm excited?! ✨

Who is an author you will never stop yapping about? For me, I found one in Paige Harbison.

We’d both read The Other Side of Now as an ARC and then when we saw Destination Funeral, it was an automatic sign up. The audio was actually narrated by Paige herself and is amazing! As soon as I finished, I went ahead and did my preorder, made 7,000,000 posts about Destination Funeral and ran to Paige’s DMs to make her be my newest best friend. Turns out she is amazing, guys!

When she had a gift based on preorders, I signed up and somehow magically won the most epic giveaway! I received a signed book plate for my preorder, a signed copy of The Other Side of Now, a signed copy of her mom’s book The Cookbook Club (which yay! Love supporting moms!), and then a whole bunch of Destination Funeral swag that is adorable!

But seriously, go read this one, it broke me in the best way!

October Stack

My oldest had a cold this weekend, which means I now have it. Thankfully it’s not too bad, but I am struggling a little bit and I’m pretty sure I’m 93% tea and honey at this point.

It’s fine. He and I just need to be well enough that we can go to school/work tomorrow.

So, now I’m trying to decide if it’s worth picking up a book or calling today a wash.

⬇️ QOTD: Can you read when your sick, or do you prefer vegging out?
