1999/2000 Original Jordan XV Team Bank edition white/black mid. The 15 is a very important shoe for me because it’s the first pair I bought with my own money. Initially I got the flint mids and exchanged them for navy lows. Most people dislike XVs since the style is a little wild with sharp lines and an aesthetic designed with the X15 jet in mind. @christivn and I are probably the only crazy ones out there. This particular pair is a white and black mid which was not released to the public. They were given to NBA/NCAA players and were sold on Eastbay in limited sizes. Allegedly the leftovers were what eastbay received but that’s not confirmed. Derek Anderson and Mike Bibby were also among players that got PE versions of these with their numbers on them, I’m still hunting for those. You’ll notice the dye transfer in these which does happen over time for most pairs but interestingly enough the original owner told me these came like this in 2000. You’ll also notice the original framing of the inner box to accommodate the unique tongue of the XV.

WILSON SMITH III 🐐‼️

@shoeitecture has been with @nike for 41 amazing years, at the end of 2024 he is calling it a career at the swoosh.

Wilson graduated from the Schools of Architecture and Allied Arts in 1980 with a degree in architecture. Wilson was hired by @nike 3 years later as Corporate Interior Designer to help design showrooms, stores, offices and various graphic publications for the SWOOSH.

He has also spent many years designing for Michael Jordan, Andre Agassi and Nike Basketball. In 1996 one of Wilson’s most famous designs the Nike Air More Uptempo released and changed the game forever

@tinkahat himself after jokingly critiquing the loud design with AIR printed on the side later told Wilson Nike will sell MILLIONS 🤣‼️

In 2019, he was honored with the Jan Ernst Matzeliger Award as the first Black designer in the athletic footwear industry, and with Nike’s inaugural Design Achievement Award.

Wilson remains a mentor to many at the swoosh and in the community. I had the honour this summer spending time with Wilson over two days and he became a friend instantly. I thoroughly enjoy keeping in touch with him and look forward to future visits with @shoeitecture .

Wilson once shared the bible verse Philippians 2:3 which reads:
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”

There were so many crazy pairs shared, it was honestly overwhelming in every great way possible. I attempted to absorb all this greatness on the table and memorable conversations with so many wonderful people. Still processing the amazing past week of experiences…so much love, nostalgia, passion, great stories, and incredible people.

Portland 2024 Recap: WHQ!
Exactly one year apart from last years life changing trip I was reflecting and trying to pick out kicks for this years trip!
Last year was special, this year was different!

My first time at World Headquarters I had such an amazing experience, Disney World for Nike lovers. This year we toured and were able to see campus in all its glory!
I met with friends who have become family and new faces to add to a bond held by a common theme of passion and love for SNEAKERS!

From Wed 8/29- Sun 9/1 a group of passionate sneaker enthusiasts united! We wore our favorite kicks, talked about our favorite kicks and shared vulnerable, exciting stories with each other!

Short Answer : Be curious and open to things

It starts with a simple idea 💡: @snkrtechtalk & @aaron.ac.cooper saying to eachother “Hey let’s get together…do you know…”

It grew this year with @phase2 suggesting we link up with @eeeweezie who is about to open up his 2nd @deadstockcoffee location. And Ian saying “yes”.

Then @riffenburgh84 with the generous offer to tour us around Campus, with serval fun cameos.

Then @tedxportland & @portlandgear were equally generous with offering to host us all.

In short, the shoes are awesome….but the people who helped along the way are more so.

Special thanks to @souliisole who connected us with so many great people this year. Your passion is “hella” contagious.

Thank you for all the shares and interest. The five of us (@souliisole / @snkrtechtalk / @sneakerpreservationsociety / @kicksigma ) simply hoped to pay it back, while moving it forward.
