𝙒𝙀𝙇𝘾𝙊𝙈𝙀 𝘽𝘼𝘾𝙆, 𝙄𝙎𝘼𝘽𝙀𝙇𝙇𝘼 𝙋𝙃𝙀𝙇𝙋𝙎!

After winning her first New York state title in February, Isabella Phelps (Sidney) had a quiet offseason where we didn’t see her in action at Fargo.

She made her first notable appearance back to competition this weekend at the Journeymen World Classic, and WOW did she make it count.

Phelps entered the Journeymen Women’s World Classic as the 7 seed and beat both the 1 and 2 seeds in the tournament on the day en route to a third place finish.

Most notably, she notched three massive wins over nationally ranked opponents in #4 Lyric Hetzer (Ohio), #16 Jocelyn Danbe (New Jersey), and #22 Bella Fodera (California). Her win over Hetzer was a 15-12 barnburner where she would trail 12-11 with 40 seconds left in the match, and would ultimately pull out a big win.

“𝙒𝘼𝙔 𝙏𝙊𝙊 𝙀𝘼𝙍𝙇𝙔” 𝙂𝙄𝙍𝙇𝙎 𝙍𝘼𝙉𝙆𝙄𝙉𝙂𝙎!

Is there ever such thing as “too early” when it comes to some preseason rankings!? The talent is abundant across the Girls Wrestling landscape here in New York State, even with some of our great wrestlers departing to take on the National Prep circuit.

Fargo finalist Noli Paddock (Chautauqua Lake) holds down the top spot at 138lbs as she’s now cracked the top 20 in the national rankings and will be in search of her first state title this upcoming year.

After a quiet summer, Samantha Massey (Mount Markham) is now back into the fold and looks to capture her second state title after an injury sidelined her at this past years state tournament.

Our first iteration of the 2026-27 Girls Wrestling Rankings are now available at NewYorkWrestlingNews.com.

𝙂𝙄𝙍𝙇𝙎 𝙎𝙊𝙋𝙃𝙊𝙈𝙊𝙍𝙀 𝘽𝙄𝙂 𝘽𝙊𝘼𝙍𝘿!

As we continue to roll out our spring class rankings, it's now time for the 2028 Girls Big Board! Section IV headlines with three girls ranked inside the top eight. In total, there are five former state champs and three state runner ups in the Class of 2028!

Ava Guilmette (Shenendehowa) is the top ranked sophomore in the state and is ranked as high as 7th in the nation. She's now won two consecutive state titles and continues to work for four straight.

Delaney Dixon (Windsor) sits right behind Guilmette - her win over 2x Fargo All-American and returning State Champion Victoria Alvarado won her a state title inside MVP Arena this year, and has now propelled her into the national rankings.

Sitting in third, and climbing five spots from the fall, is Section IV standout Isabella Phelps (Sidney). She ran the gauntlet this year at 114lbs and improved on a 6th place finish as a freshman, winning a title as a sophomore.

The top 30 alongside 20 honorable mentions can be found at NewYorkWrestlingNews.com
