Happy Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month & Hmong American Day (May 14, a week late)! . Look at the beautiful cast of Asian Americans! These are the amazing dancers that I will be working with for my short dance film project, “Footprints Under the Mekong.” We have been working hard since April to get this piece together and completed. Though we aren’t finished yet, I wanted to do a mid-process update! We will have more exciting updates throughout this process until our video shoot day in August! . Shoutout to my collaborators, 1. Kayla Vang for holding deep discussions towards this process this far. 2. Jack GV Vang for agreeing to be my videographer and cinematic creator! . Lastly, shouting out to my newest collaborator, the amazing, Alina Xiong! . Alina Xiong is a cellist and singer, originally from Wisconsin, who loves to use music to foster creativity, exploration, and storytelling. She uses her ears and heart to blend her Hmong roots with pop influences through an organic process that celebrates imperfection. As a musician, her only goal is to have fun. . #technicamovement #alinaxyooj #jackgvvang #hmongdancefilm #creativeindividuals2026

FUN FACT! We 3 here are Hmong BA/BFA dance major graduates from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities from 2014-2018! We got Pheng Yang (left), Itly Thayieng (center), and then me. We are only missing @magnoliaysy and @yangchee.yang, totaling 5 of us! They both are out and about doing amazing things post graduation! . It only took about a decade, but us three were able to gather after rehearsing for my Hmong film project. . Though our paths have taken its own course, it truly is exciting to regathered once again! Also, it is important the Hmong community knows that there are small number of us who chased our dreams by pursing dance and performing arts in a collegia setting! . Be on the look out for our Hmong film project updates with the amazing team that I have brought together! . #Hmong #Hmoob #hmongshortfilm #hmongdancefilm #MNartists
