CRESCENT CHOIR
A choral project led by Sophia Corinne, bringing original music by local artists to life.

Rooted in the Asheville area, Crescent Choir brings skilled musicians and experienced singers together to make ambitious new work. The project is made up of two interconnected ensembles: Crescent Choir, a larger mixed-voice choir, and Moon Choir, a small femme-centered ensemble that grows out of the full group. Together, they form a single artistic container devoted to collaboration, rigorous listening and music-making, sharing carefully shaped work through live performance.

After a HUGE week last week (we blew it out with some of our favorite local musicians AND @nc_governor!), this week we are settling in for a chiller. It'll be a perfect week to relax along the French Broad on the patio at @zadiesmarket.

This Thursday for our first show of October we are joined by Sophia Corinne and Lyle de Vitry (@phiabird and @lyledevitry). Lyle is a new Marshall resident and a fingerstyle guitar wizard unlike any other you've ever seen. Sophia's from just over the Buncombe line in Leicester as well. Two of WNC's most innovative singer-songwriters, they both have some incredibly unique original music to offer, and both have released incredible records of original material in the past few years. Sophia leads a choir called @crescent_choir that performs original music by its members. If you're lucky enough to have seen one of their concerts, you know that it's not something to be missed. Lyle is getting ready to release a new record of incredible instrumental compositions. The two set off on a collaborative tour up north and back earlier this year, and we are lucky enough to have them reprise that collaboration this week along the French Broad River. This is a special one, y'all... Don't miss it!

We'll be back for more next week. Every Thursday (and sometimes more) with wonderful original live music, food, and drinks from 6-8pm, rain or shine. Never a cover, always a good time!

Here's our music calendar @zadiesmarket for the month of October, with one beautiful finale for the year in November. We're firing on all cylinders for you all this month and cramming in as much as we can before our winter respite. Many magical evenings in store along the river this month. Never a cover, always a good time! Come join us alongside the French Broad in beautiful downtown Marshall, rain or shine, to enjoy live music, good food, and cold drinks out on the patio.

A gooseneck trailer offers a multi-level tiny house layout that opens up a ton of design possibilities. Like in Forest and Sophia incredible DIY home—perfectly customized around their priorities. 💫

It’s 10 feet wide which makes a massive difference in terms of layout flexibility and furniture placement, compared to a standard 8.5 ft tiny house on wheels. The catch is the cost. 💰 A gooseneck trailer always costs significantly more than a bumper-pull trailer, and even more when it’s extra-wide.

My body continues to be an alien landscape, and also the most familiar of places. I make my home in it the only ways I know how. By loving, by swimming, and by making.

So here’s some upcoming times to enjoy the things I’ve been making!!!

Friday, Aug. 14, 7:30-8pm - @crescent_choir will be performing a short set (including one of my songs!) as part of the opening reception of the new Mad Co Arts Council show, “Holding Together: Cloth, Material & Making” (curated by @amberm.jensen )

Saturday, Aug. 22, 1pm-Sundown - Tea Tent Fête!!! (Blannahasset Island). This event is to support the continuation of our beloved Tea Tent, and there will be so so many lovely and amazing musicians all day, and a handful of amazing crankies and shadow puppets also being performed…including, my very own crankies and shadow show! Moonglow Shadow Show will be performing from 5:30-6pm, but please be sure to come for all the rest of the magic!

Sunday, Aug. 23, 7:30pm - The Hermit dance! @ritualmovement555
This dance has been a long-awaited opportunity for me to alchemize some of my intense experience being often bedbound and disabled up on this hill. The set is going to be epic, and the altar sculpture will be a magic portal! So much more to say about it, but just wanted to make sure you all get it on your calendars!

And last but not least:
Thursday, Sep. 17 - Save the date for the first day of the fall season of @resound.community.choir ! We are working hard behind the scenes and will have more details to share soon.

I love you all! Thanks for being my reason to keep on living!

That’s a wrap on our summer tour! First time taking my little Melodigrand piano on the road! Insane… but worth it! So much fun playing and singing with @phiabird at all of these shows — that was such a treat. Thanks to everyone who hosted us, fed us, and supported us along the way. Now its time to stretch the old back haha
