What. A. Weekend.🇬🇧🇩🇪🇪🇺

World Middle Distance Powerman Duathlon Champs 🏃10km - 🚴‍♂️60km -🏃10km representing GBR🇬🇧

Alsdorf, Germany 🇩🇪
Proud beyond words to represent Great Britain & Northern Ireland at the World Middle Distance Powerman Duathlon Championships in Alsdorf, Germany with the British Triathlon Age Group Team!

This was officially a B race for me with my sights firmly set on long course triathlon later in the year, but let’s be honest — if you get the chance to race in your country’s colours, you take it! The passion, pride, and commitment were there from start to finish!

Run 1 – A punchy opener, ticking off 10k in 39:00
Bike – My time to shine! From the back of the pack to the sharp end of the race in 1hr 30min

Run 2 – This was where the real fight began… legs had checked out, but the mind dug deep. Hung on with everything I had to finish in 44:00, claiming 21st in AG.

One thing I don’t want to stay quiet about: drafting on the bike. If you’re representing your country, you race fair. Cheating isn’t just against the rules, it’s a bad look — and you know who you are. Great job the World Triathlon Officials were all over it

Eyes forward now to the big goals ahead, but still buzzing to have worn that GB kit on the world stage for a second time. Let’s keep pushing.

Finally a bit about my eyewear.
@kyloeinthewild Blizzard Race Glasses. Made in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 from recycled material’s these glasses are a thing of beauty to race in.

Comfortable, durable, polarised (so the competition didn’t see the pain in my eyes and just look damn 😎👌. They stayed where they should do all race. If you fancy a discount on some, look at my bio!

For @battleonthebeach this year, we built a special bike. One we've had in our heads for years, but finally built!
.
Even among Beach Races, BotB is unique because it features, not only the hard packed windy beach, but also loamy, sandy single-track through the woods. It was everything I wanted it to be! 🔥
.
The bike is centred around a 2015 XC race bike frame which @aeightracer last used in 2018. It was left in the attic for a few years before a light bulb went off! The paint takes its inspiration from the last McLaren that Senna drove in the early 90s 💚💛🖤
.
I found a rigid fork that matched the original geometry but dropped the weight by over a kilo 🪶 Then, I built a set of my ULTIMÄTE Carbon Gravel HWEÓLS, which again dropped a heap of weight and upped its capability. @schwalbetyresuk supplied a set of the awesome Thunder Burt tyres, which ended up being perfect - the extra grip over a pure sand tyre played to my strengths in the dunes

A @sramroad Force XPLR mech paired to a flat bar mountain bike shifter was the perfect combination 🚀 I used a 36 @hopetech ring and crank, with the 10-44 12 speed cassette, which once again was spot on. Hope Tech 4 X2 brakes provided the stopping power ⚓️

The whole thing weighs 9kg including pedals 💥
.

🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️ **Pushing Through Adversity** 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Wednesday, I competed in the Dorney Lake Events Midweek Sprint Triathlon hosted by the amazing Active Training World, and wow, what a race! After a brutal start where my wetsuit ripped and filled with water (yes, I had to stop twice to drain it 😅), I found myself falling behind in the swim. But I wasn’t about to let that stop me.

I focused in on the bike and run, determined to catch up. All the hard work and training paid off as I managed to secure 2nd place in the 45-49 age group and 8th overall, setting a personal record on this course!

This was the third event of the series, and as the last picture shows, the improvement since May is real. 🔥

Here's a little look at part of Phil's anime sleeve. This is one of the most unique projects I've ever worked on for so many reasons. I don't think I'll ever have the opportunity to complete an anime sleeve for someone in their 70s ever again, this was definitely a once in a lifetime project and I am so thrilled Phil chose me for it!
