While I was head-down working on the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, some brilliant news popped up on Insta stories that I completely missed at first and found out I’ve been nominated for the @bikebizmag Unsung Hero of the Year Award (you can vote in link in bio!).

I feel immensely proud of this. If it wasn’t for bikes and a deep love for sport and equity, I wouldn’t be doing what I am today. For the last ten years or so, my mission has been simple: to break down barriers, create real opportunities for people from underrepresented and less privileged backgrounds, and ensure everyone gets the chance to ride. And the work never stops.

From co-founding two charities dedicated to women and girls in cycling, to supporting grassroots community groups with their commitments to inclusion, working alongside brands and being so loyally supported by @santacruzbicycles, @enduraofficial, @wildernesstrailbikes, @shimano_uk along the way to becoming one of the few female MTB tutors, and using my voice to advocate for national change, I have taken every opportunity to use my platform to create space for others. Qualifying the first ever adaptive MTB leaders was a big win for me.

A huge part of this journey has been about coaching and uplifting people building skill, confidence, and self-belief so that they can claim their space on the trails and in the industry. There is no point in being a lone voice when we are so much stronger together. When there’s more of us we make a bigger impact.

I feel so proud when I see riders come to the fore not just participating, but stepping up as visible, influential leaders shaping the future of cycling. My mission continues, and I’ll keep pushing until we transform a system that too often denies us the space we deserve. Talent is everywhere; opportunity is not.

So, to be nominated for the BikeBiz Unsung Hero of the Year Award I am genuinely overwhelmed with gratitude.

This is my third year of nominations, so third time lucky, perhaps! But win or lose, I am deeply proud of our collective journey and the incredible community behind it.

Good luck to all my fellow nominees. You are all doing amazing work!

WE WON! Community Project of the Year 2025! 🥳

We’re ecstatic to announce that we won the Community Project of the Year at this year’s DMBinS Scottish Mountain Biking Awards.

This was one of our most successful years to date, and the award is truly well-deserved by every single person who contributed.

HUGE THANKS to our entire community - our amazing volunteers, the FNY team, all our friends, supporters, partners and funders, local businesses and brands we work with.

The biggest thanks goes to our riders, our regulars and all of the incredible women we’ve introduced to mountain biking this year. Over 50% of our participants this year were new to the sport! From Active Travel and Wellbeing to leading and coaching, we’re proud of our growing community empowering each and every one who joins us on this journey through cycling.

Special shout out to our significant investors this year; @santacruzbicycles @findraclothing, Stewart aka @tweedvalleyblogger and the team at @traquairhouse. We can’t thank you all enough for your belief and support.
