The Bluff 🏴‍☠️ #1 globally on @primevideo

Swipe to see how two of the hero sets went from drawings and foam-core models to the screen.

As a Set Designer, I was the primary draftsperson on the Bodden House build (art dir: Andrew Kattie) and developed the VR previs for the cave system in Unreal Engine (art dir: @patrickjameshowe @cherry_confetti ), walking the director and key crew through the space in virtual reality months before construction began.

This was a massive team effort and some of the most rewarding work I’ve been a part of.

Huge thanks to @philipivey for leading the vision as Production Designer, @chuckiedo for holding everything together as Supervising Art Director, and our fearless Director @franke.flowers for the incredible story and willingness to step into a headset🥽

Three years ago how it ends was released and went straight to the number one position for all Netflix films across all of their territories around the world. Back then they weren’t releasing the data, but they told us after the first weekend because the film was doing so well. For a relatively small film our numbers were through the roof. Well, 3 1/2 years later it has somehow happened again with the same movie. Number one of all of their films on Netflix in the US… And one of the top 10 films in many many territories and countries around the world. We don’t quite understand it, but we are incredibly grateful. Thank you again to all of the amazing people who worked on this project!

When How It Ends was originally released Netflix was still notoriously tight lipped about its data, which unfortunately meant we couldn’t share it at the time. Fortunately that’s changed, and if memory serves the numbers were totally bananas, holding the spot of number 1 movie across the globe for something like a staggering 8 weeks. That’s just crazy, and it’s even more crazy that this little movie that could keeps punching above its weight class almost 4 years later. It’s just immensely cool and gratifying to see something born from my imagination travel into the hands of great collaborators, and then across the globe 🌎 (I see you Mauritius!) and into the homes of tens upon tens of millions of people. Just wild!!!!!!! 🙏
