An incredibly rare encounter during our afternoon tour.

We were watching a bait ball from the surface when our guide jumped into the water to see what was happening.

First, an oceanic whitetip shark approached, followed by several yellowfin tuna swimming through the bait ball.

And then, suddenly, emerging from the depths of the ocean… this magnificent Mobula ray appeared! 😍

Only our third sighting in over 10 years!! 🤯💙 #frenchpolynesia #sealife #videooftheday #oceanwildlife #moorea

Momma and baby encounters are some of the most beautiful and heart touching but also the most delicate ones.

For one, you have to earn her trust before she allows her baby to come play with you and in this case you can see the mom pushing her child towards us and let the baby boy dance so close!

Being very respectful and knowing when is enough is our priority and when we are on the water with @oceanaddictmoorea , that is something we can trust them fully on. Most of the times after one drop with momma and calf, we see that she needs space, then we back off and continue on with our day.

Moments from one of my favorite ocean encounters ever with this momma and her calf.

Momma let her baby, who was probably born not too long ago in these waters, hang out and play around with us. He continuously swam around us, splashing and making close passes, while mom hung out on the reef below and rested.

Check out the 4th slide of Momma nudging him toward the surface so he wouldn’t forget to breathe!

Each year, vast schools of sardines gather along the Pacific coast of Baja, creating one of the ocean’s most extraordinary natural events. Marlin, sea lions, dolphins, whales, seabirds and other predators arrive to join the action—yet every day on the water tells a different story.

From October through early December, we follow the conditions and choose the best possible days to head out. Nothing is staged, and no encounter is guaranteed. That’s the beauty of exploring the open ocean.

Join us in Bahía Magdalena and experience it for yourself.
