My mom has always been one of the most important people in my life. I’ve shared a little about the domestic abuse she experienced before meeting my dad, and how her strength helped shape who I am.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I’m proud to support my mom’s nonprofit, Pain 2 Purpose, and the work they do for survivors. If you’re able, please join me in supporting their mission. 💜

Donate through the link in my bio.

Last year’s International Women’s Day was one of the most meaningful moments of my leadership. Not because it highlighted me, but because it gave me the chance to highlight others.

I was asked to nominate women making a real impact in South Florida. I didn’t take that lightly. I thought about leadership, representation, community impact, and the women who are truly doing the work.

These were the women I chose:

Luisa Santos – Miami-Dade County School Board Member championing opportunity and access for students.

Juanita Olvera – Deputy Chief of Staff to Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee and a leader in civic engagement and community service.

Angeline Evans – Chief Impact Officer at YWCA South Florida advancing initiatives that drive women’s empowerment and racial justice.

Metris Batts Coley – President of The Miami Woman’s Club and a force for nonprofit leadership and community impact.

Arsimmer McCoy – Poet and teaching artist using storytelling and archives to explore the Black South and advocate for environmental justice.

Julie Robinson – Army veteran and founder of the South Dade Women’s Veterans Alliance supporting women veterans across South Florida.

Michelle Abreu – Past Chair of the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women and champion for women’s economic empowerment.

Dr. Shanda Roberts – Founder of Pain 2 Purpose turning her story into advocacy and support for survivors of domestic violence.

Yolanda Strader – Commercial litigator and former president of the Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. Bar Association advancing leadership in the legal community.

Janey Tate – Founder of Hy-Lo News amplifying the voices of Black and Brown communities.

Suzy Lord – Cutler Bay Council Member advocating for environmental protection and smart community growth.

Different paths. Same commitment to impact.

Happy International Women’s Day. 💜

We Are Not Just Moving On. We Are Moving Forward.
At Wings To Freedom Foundation , our journey began with a focus on survival. We focused on the strength it takes to breathe through the storm of Domestic Violence (DV) and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). But survival is just the foundation—it isn't the finish line.
Today, we are evolving. We are shifting our focus from healing in private to advocating in public.

Rain or shine, we did it!! Seeing an NFL client’s mom sing the national anthem was one of the most surreal moments of my career. Thank you, @phiwife, for trusting me to deliver on my word. I knew from day one God brought us together for a reason. It’s only just the beginning… ❤️
