#1216 tonight was a short, fun, chill, wholesome bill of quirky bands. Got to @rugclubphl a bit of a way into @idiot_mambo 's short, power problem filled set. Luckily, the power surged on right when a plan b was being figured out so they could finish their set out properly. Since I got there a bit late, I missed the first, but caught their second run-through of the hand clapping HI Five. Chatted with a couple of friends who were unsurprisingly there too, and the touring band @talulahpaisley from NYC took the rug covered stage area. They played a whimsically playful set, and with the show being put on by @philadelphiapsychedelic, they stood out as the band who actually played some 60s psych style songs... but they were not limited to the genre. Their cutsy vibe was quiet and intimate at times, and lively and art rock at others, but was a far more intriguing live than recoding can capture, with the French-clown makeuped singer coming into the limited capacity audience at the end of their set. Ending the night was the local @phlcouch, who apparently had switched up from their usual instruments and played without a drummer. The tight knit group of friends interacted playfully with each other and the crowd, offering personal info about why vocals might crack, and view points regarding the overwhelming situation in Palestine and how continuing to talk about it is important. They shuffled instruments, which was envious by the flutist, as they only played the flute. Their short set ended with their cat anthem "bubby bub bub" at around 945p.

GOOD NEWS!! DIY is forever. Wanna know why? Because an old friend you've known for 15 years can call you one day and say "hey, can you help us out" and lo and behold YOU CAN!!!
.
Been a fan of Mo, Colson, and Wally's art for a long-ass time, and it's a gift to be bringing them to Philadelphia!!! Old AZ heads may know them from North Dakota, Petty Things, Califone, Numb Bats, Nanami Ozone, Wooden Indian/Slow Moses, and much, much more. SLIDE THREE provides visual evidence of some of my longtime admiration 🥲. Wanna help me help them???? Come on out to MANAYUNK on Tuesday, June 10! Three bands, all ages, over by 10pm, details on SLIDE TWO. Tickies/extra info where you'd expect.
.
As a special bonus we have the great Cara Beth Satalino (shouts to Outer Spaces) and Couch opening it up. See you there!!!!
