“We wanted to ride at our own pace, have fun and shoot photos. Photo Pace.”

Educator and photographer—the order of those two words being important—RJ Agcamaran talked candidly over our call on a wide range of topics: telling stories with @photo.pace, why he loves shooting ‘the moments in between’, and the lessons we can learn from the young.

Illustrated throughout with his beautiful imagery, see link in bio to check out the conversation or visit:

June. A constant work in progress. Editing in B&W is not easy for me. But I think I’m getting better? Here’s a few from the past month or so. ✌🏻

June was me saying goodbye to a group of students and a school year I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to and then thrown into a summer that doesn’t quite feel like summer. Sprinkled in there though, I guess, was bits of me saying hello to feeling human again and now I just mostly hope July will be on my side. Good bye gloommaxxing June, hello lifemaxxing July

There have been a few moments in my photography career where before I even press the shutter I know the shot is going to be perfect. Over the past 2 days I felt that feeling 5 times! 48 hours in the desert with an incredible crew created an opportunity to make some work I’m very proud of! Thank you @creedub, @tamagoshawty, @gwilliees, & @adrian.andrada for a shoot I’ll never forget!

Last Oct I rode my first bikepacking ultra. 1,400 miles across Japan in the @japanese_odyssey. I made new friends (some were crabs). I passed out in a bivy on the side of the road. I cried, but not for reasons you’d think. Through pouring rain and darkness. Mountain passes and bamboo forests. I wrote all about it for @bikepackingcom. Link in bio.

I threw in some video clips towards the end of these slides that match moments I described in the essay: conked out cyclists at the start of day 5, dunking my head in the water, crabs at night. You tell me if I did a good job illustrating these scenes in words 😂

Note to self: charge your camera. Still managed to pull off a few snaps. Nothing went to plan today, still thankful for hangs with my friends. Rough day for @kinseykramer but we made it work #newshoesday

May, so far. This weekend was one for the books or for the core memories, or the gram, I mean, or whatever. Got the partial band back together for a bit and it was nice while it lasted.
