Oh, Chanel. I can’t believe you are 18 years old today! 🥹 Thank you Lord for blessing our family with a humble, bright, thoughtful daughter who set a great example for her siblings and little cousins. You are the first one in the family who worked so hard in school that you’ve earned yourself a merit-based full-ride scholarship to UC Davis from your academic excellence. I say that so proudly because you’re the first one in the family- you did that baby girl! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🥹😭

You’re off to university next week and it’s such a bittersweet feeling; how do we go from being with you everyday for 18 years to you going off to school and being on your own?

THE BIG 18! How did we get here? I find myself asking that question a lot lately, but I have loved every minute of life with you my baby. You have been my eating partner, my travel companion, my truth teller and the one who could stop me dead in my tracks from crashing out. As you step into adulthood, I hope that the world never changes your sense of wonder, I pray you continue to be kind always, and that you change the world as you were destined. These tears I shed are tears of joy, happiness and absolute awe for the amazing human that you are. Thank you for always reminding me to love and to be kind and that “it’s ok.” I love you with my life my Nelly. Daddy will always be here…rooting for you and cheering you on during all of your accomplishments (even though you don’t want us there 😂😭). Never change my baby. Happy birthday and I can’t wait to celebrate you now and forever!!!

P.S. - while I could’ve posted all of our pics together, you are and will always be the main event my humble child!
