The Ones, Flawless (Phunk Investigation Club Mix). 2001

Phunk Investigation.

Flawless (Go To The City).

The Ones, Flawless (Phunk Investigation Club Mix). 2001.

The signature anthem of American trio The Ones, one of the defining New York house records of its time. The title was inspired by the 1999 film Flawless, in which one of the group's members appeared alongside Robert De Niro. And this, the best-known version, was built by Italian duo Phunk Investigation.

Number seven in the UK, number four on the US dance chart, number one on the Australian club chart. And the ultimate seal of approval: George Michael loved it so much he added his own lyrics and re-released it as Flawless (Go To The City). On vinyl this groove is, well, flawless.

The Ones, Superstar (Phunk Investigation Club Mix). 2003

Flawless (Go To The City). Phunk Investigation.

The Ones, Superstar (Phunk Investigation Club Mix). 2003.

New York trio The Ones, the makers of the iconic Flawless. The very track George Michael sampled a year later for his hit Flawless (Go To The City). Superstar is their follow-up single, and the club version was built by Italian duo Phunk Investigation.

Camp, glittering club pop-house with that you're a superstar energy. The kind that lit up New York floors in the 2000s. On vinyl the sparkle and drive are all there.

Perfect for the Ibiza clubs, the track blends samba-inspired electro beats with a fast-paced four-to-the-floor rhythm, keeping the energy high and unstoppable. A velvety Brazilian voice, paired with a driving, rhythmic bassline, creates an irresistible desire to dance that never lets up. The samba chorus makes the track warm and catchy, explosive in its musicality thanks to the use of the “Tem Mais Samba” sample by Brazilian music legend Chico Buarque kindly authorized by Som Livre. You’re listening the Joy Marquez Remix out on 21 August #onrepeat #nowplaying #feelinggood #housemusic #upnext
