Looking back on the very first Ascent Dance Competition 🪼🫶

This year’s Ascent was so important and special in many ways. It means the world to us that we were able to build a space and event that could embody the talent, love, and connection available in our community.

Once again, a massive congratulations for @ishanathan_ @miialynnnnn, @thisiz_rad, and @capitalfunk for winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd! As well as @hyperspacecommandforce for being the first team to take home the People’s Choice Award! We’re so grateful to every single crew who came to Ascent and shared their craft and love for dance with us on stage.

To our wonderful headliners @wrencrisologo @marleehightower @jayjayp16 — thank you for providing energy, inspiration, and wisdom to all of us. This first Ascent/Summit weekend will be truly unforgettable.

A massive thanks to our Media + PR + Day-of Operations teams for making sure the event ran as smooth as possible. A special shout out to @photo_ditto for covering our bases entirely for photography and videography of the event.

📣 Speaking of videography, Front Row videos are out now! Wide View videos will be released at a later date due to delays on our end. We appreciate your patience!

Additionally, thank you to MLK Jr. Performing Arts Center for providing us with the perfect venue as well as professional-level production for the performances. To our sponsor @redbulldance and vendors @kyubi_cha El Tako Nako @potluckycville for providing our dancers with food and refreshments.

And to @doovidshere for making a hype and energetic cypher mix for our intermission, @juicestain.k @vyia.san for serving as incredible emcees for the nights, and Sabrina Lee for collaborating with us to produce a fully sold-out exclusive merch collection for this year’s Ascent and Summit. Words cannot explain how much gratitude we have for your time, effort, and energy in supporting the event.

Lastly, thank you to our Executive Board (@kristinakang555 @kennybknguyen @benltchang @zzzkimmy @nikkluu @kyra__li @camillexhou) for working tirelessly throughout the past year to make the Ascent Dance Competition come to life.

We hope to see you all next year! 🌄

thank you @phunktionsumd for having me 🥹 been workshopping this piece over the past month or so—there's something to the flow & rhythm of wesley joseph's songwriting that just tickles my brain so much. s/o to @comeback.crw friends & @jeanyeos for helping me make the first few iterations of this come alive!! still figuring out what this creative voice looks like but i've been trying to embrace the ebbs and flows of it. onto the next!

choreography by yours truly

recap of my dance 2025🕺

this year has been so good to me. i’m honestly speechless at how many opportunities i’ve had to create, to move, and to share my choreo with the world. i’m deeply grateful to everyone who believed in me and gave me the space to bring my ideas to life. through dance, i met so many incredibly talented and kind people, and grew even closer to others i truly adore. a special thank you goes to @fegdidhsh and @rejeccabang for being my constant moral, mental, and physical support — for always pushing me and helping me find my flow. i truly couldn’t have done this year without you.

most importantly, i’m really proud of where i am and who i’ve become in just one year. i feel even hungrier to grow, improve, and do more. that’s my goal for next year: keep growing and have even more fun along the way.
with that being said, i wanted to share some of the work i’m most proud of 🤍
