This field has taught me that progress looks different for everyone, and that patience, compassion, and understanding can change a child’s entire future. Special education isn’t just the degree I earned, it’s the purpose behind everything I do💜

mental health… a serious topic. Lately y’all have probably been seeing a lot of student athletes tragically taking their lives. I felt it in my heart to share with you all my story with mental health within sports.
Some of you may know that I STRUGGLED with anxiety, panic attacks, & depression my senior year season. It was so bad that it was to the point where I felt “out of body” and that I shouldn’t be here. I was terrified that my mind was even thinking like this. I broke down.
I called 911, I called my mom, I called my coach. I knew I needed help.

I am FOREVER grateful for my housemates @ae397 @pjbandy @myk_07 and @claudia.meyn for going to the hospital with me, for NEVER leaving me alone and just simply for being the people I needed in my life. Without them I don’t know where I would be.

To my coach who I am so thankful for, he understood me, he talked to me, he NEVER gave up on me.

To my mom, thank you for understanding and moving to college for a week to help me through it all.

To my Ribby boy thank you for SAVING my life.

I could go on and on about my mental health journey, but I will say that you are never alone! You may feel that way but you aren’t! We all go through dark times but I am here to say that with the right support system you can over come.
