Strolling through St. Marks on an unusually warm fall night.

It’s changed since the pandemic—way more outdoor dining.

Good or bad? I dunno.

But I miss Gem Spa. 💎

Our last featured Collection in this week’s inaugural ‘For the Love of NYC Stores’ series is none other than Caroline Weaver, founder of @thelocavorenyc and someone we consider to be one of the great champions of NYC’s independent retail community!

The Locavore is a digital directory for IRL local shopping, a guidebook and an awesome Variety Store filled with gifts and goods from independent brands in and around the city.

We were first introduced to Caroline’s exceptional curation at her first store, a specialty pencil shop on the Lower East Side. (One of our more recent conversations was about our shared affinity for wall-mounted pencil sharpeners…)

She’s become one of our favorite sources for insight on the state of the store world. A wealth of knowledge and inspiration to so many.

Here, she shares a Collection of Locavore Essentials: a rotation of shops she loves across the city, including a loose-leaf tea shop with a rock ’n’ roll spirit, a jewelry studio with great bold chains, and a hidden-gem wardrobe supply store where you’ll be shopping alongside some of the city’s best stylists and costume designers.

Highlights here, with Caroline’s full Store Collection mapped in the app.

As always, thanks for the amazing store recommendations, Caroline!

I've decided to take a page from Led Zeppelin's book. In 1975 they released an album called Physical Graffiti consisting of some new material plus some unreleased tracks.

The following photos are a collection that haven't fit in with any of the other collections I've posted to Instagram.

1. Dehydrated Orange on Cake
2. Paddle board in Tauranga
3. Cemetery in Tauranga
4. Yes chef
5. Bonus Photo (Me in front of the building used for the Physical Graffiti album cover)

P.S. there's a tea shop located on the right hand side of the building named @physicalgraffitea

Calling all tea lovers! This is one of my favorite NYC spots and hidden gems 🌿@physicalgraffitea in the East Village is my go to herbal tea shop. As an herbalist it’s the only tea spot in NYC that I truly love to visit! With wall-to-wall herbs, tasty medicinal herbal tea blends, bulk herbs, knowledgeable staff, and cozy vibes, it’s a must-visit NYC small business and East Village gem!

And it’s a stop for all you Led Zeppelin fans as it’s in the same building that is on the cover of their 1975 album! Definitely worth a stop🌿

Week 14 of 52

Week fourteen was quite busy with chores, errands, zoom meetings & work calls. We kicked off the weekend by visiting some fun shops, attending Western Easter, and prepping for Greek Easter which falls a week later this year. The rest of the week was spent Moose sitting and spending A LOT of time working.
Not going to lie- twas draining. I really wanted this week to focus on my own personal projects and growth, but once 5pm hit and the laptop was closed- I really didn’t have any juice left! What a bummer! (I even missed posting this on my normal Thursday time. That’s why this is 3 days late.) At times like this- I really need to reground myself and recharge. Laundry be piling up. For this upcoming week, I really want to focus on grounding. I want to be inspired. I want to create opportunities for growth. Remember kids: Closed mouths don’t get fed.
See you next week!

1. Filming Tiktoks
2. Finally seeing some greenery

Highlights from my trip to New York for the @collegemedia Association Convention, including my pickups from @strandbookstore and East Village Books, which I did not realize was across from the ‘Physical Graffiti’ building (and the wonderful @physicalgraffitea!). That Scholastic Who book is nothing to scoff at; it is one of just two books about them co-written by a woman. And ‘Rock and Other Four-Words’ is basically a pocket-sized Linda Eastman exhibition. Overall I had a lovely time, met some great people, saw some great spots, and can’t wait to be back!
