The polyphony of worlds is forest – Attuning to the paces of more-than-human and nature 🌱

Presenting the DAE Graduation Show 2025 Narratives #4 (part 2) by @nadineb0tha with co-leader of Studio Silva Systems, @moritzmariakarl.

Nomi Toirkens’ (@gettonomii) ‘Sit with Bitter’ is a multi-sensory ritual reclaiming the medicinal value of bitterness to challenge modern food norms. Ysabel Rumkorf’s (@studio.lalou ‘Het Zoutland’ reimagines salinisation through a tactile walking route that encourages collaboration with shifting landscapes. In ‘Pondscape in Progress’ Elna Aurand (@elna.aurand) uses handcrafted sensors and workshops to monitor and care for urban water ecosystems.

In ‘Sensing Birds’ Thijs Vleeschouwer’s (@thijsvleeschouwer) translates migratory data into a live choreography, speculating on interspecies intelligence. Gigi Totaro’s (@gigi_totaro) ‘Postnatural Remains’ investigates illegal waste dumping, reimagining discarded debris as tools for ecological support. Antonia Aschenbrenner’s (@antoniaschenbrenner) ‘Fragments of a Supercell’ explores the blurred lines between science and folk wisdom in the face of extreme weather.

In ‘Taubes Gestein’ Pia Gräwe (@pia_grae) reframes mining waste as an active, emotional body that remembers and resists its industrial legacy. Benedetta Ferrari’s (@aaudreyhorne) ‘A Cold Stargaze’ reflects on mountains as technological foundations for encountering the cosmos.

Mari Ebisu’s (@mari_ebisu_) ‘Mari’s Flower Shop’ redefines floral retail through biological growth and ecosystem transparency. Benjamin Onno Dikmans’ (@benjamin_onno_) ‘Starter Kit’ provides a modular workspace for the practical implementation of regenerative farming. Gabriel De la Riva Gutierrez’s (@studio.capulin) ‘La Milpa’ translates pre-Columbian symbiotic farming into a sculptural furniture collection of material harmony.

Shaped by the moment of a hug, a simple yet powerful gesture of recovery, each unit intertwines a narrative of solidarity and intimacy, recalling how bodies once relied on each other for survival. By resisting isolation and reconnecting what was lost, the installation reimagines touch as an act of quiet resistance and a pathway to freedom, connecting the past to the present.

This graduation project will be shown during the @dutchdesignweek , Microstad, Eindhoven, NL

Last year, we responded to the theme of Interspecies MONEY by calling a return to our first & original form of currency exchange = SOLAR ENERGY 🌞🔄

Lead by the NORTH, SOUTH, EAST and WEST STARS 💫💫💫💫 newly recruited members of the SUN TRIBE gathered around a ceremonial campfire adorned with offerings of fruits and ritualistic wares to engage in thanksgiving and a communal feast 🤲🏻

This remains as one of my most cherished collaborations of 2024 🥹 So much joy, meaning and synergy weaved into one experience together with @andries.de.lange @junfujisaku @fiona.walking, and not to forget, sooo much cheekiness with our adjacent MOON TRIBE 🌕📣 as we stitched together ancient truisms from our non-human teachers into bright WORDART slides 🤭🖌️💾

BIG thank you sweethearts @serim_kwack & @pia_grae for the photo & video documentation 🐝🍯🫶🏻 and S/O to everyone who attended this event!!! ❤️‍🔥📣🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

DON’T MOVE THE FOUNTAIN will be shown at @defabriekedhv during @dutchdesignweek!

In this project we collaborated on the challenge of creating a group installation consisting of ten teams. Each team came up with a concept and design for a fountain head and backdrop, the water becomes the connecting element that holds the pieces together.

FACE WHEELS
Jun Fujisaku, Serim Kwack, and Christoph Wimmer-Ruelland @junfujisaku @serim_kwack @wimmrue
“In Western thought, nature is seen as something to be controlled, while Eastern traditions often embrace its wildness. Fountains symbolize this control, with human heads endlessly spitting water. Inspired by “Mr. Potato Head” and “Fukuwarai,” this design embraces uncontrollability, with constantly shifting faces and forms. It reflects the eternal tension between control and unpredictability in our relationship with materials, where trial and error shape modern technology, art, and culture.”

DESIRE’S QUIET STORM
Dalila Fermezza, Sarath Muralidharan, and Chiara Zarotti @dalila.fermezza @sarath_muralidharan @chiara_zarotti

Thibaud Boto, Pia Gräwe, and Lilly Noordhof @boto_thibaud @pia_grae @lillyalexxandra
“This object is an attempt to revisit our memories and open a dialogue about what has shaped us into who we are today. It represents a time capsule. Each piece of textile serves as a canvas, holding a photograph of personal significance—a fragment of our unique perspective on a moment, a place, or a memory that is carried forward with the intention of preserving what is meaningful to each individual.”
