Dear OHXC,

Thank you for the fast races and hard workouts. Thank you for the good memories and the friendships made with my team. Thank you for the support throughout the Oak Hill community on a daily basis. Thank you to the amazing training partners throughout the years. Thank you to the best coaches I could ever ask for. I’m thankful for the ability to do what I love to do under the best program around with the best people ever.

Thank you for the best 7 years of running I could ever ask for❤️

Hard to explain the highest of highs last year to break a school record and qualify for state (which definitely included cheering and hugging and crying in joy) only to surprisingly be disqualified by an official (more crying and hugging, but not out of joy) for dropping a baton in the INFIELD multiple multiple steps after the finish line (key: not for spiking a baton in arrogance or anger, but dropping it to hug a teammate, in the infield, multiple steps after the finish line).

Then waiting a year.
One whole year.

Graduating one relay team member. Losing another to injury.

And then rallying from behind tonight to QUALIFY FOR STATE AGAIN.

Here’s to this year’s relay team and last year’s. Everyone deserves to feel like the dark cloud over their heads is gone. And everyone gets a share in this state run.

Here’s to qualifying for state TWICE and getting to go ONCE. Let’s make it worth the wait, boys. Good luck!
