Happy Birthday to my little sister, my Virgo twin, and an incredible coach, Coach Tyginae! 🥳🎂♍️🏀❤️

Tyginae, I truly appreciate everything you do for me and the TMLA basketball program. You are such a breath of fresh air, and you have become one of the leading voices in our community of women’s sports. The way you lead our girls and teach them through your own example is something special. These young women are extremely lucky to have a leader, teacher, mentor, and coach like you in their lives.

Thank you for taking this journey with me. I know some days aren’t easy, but the work we are doing and the development we are pouring into these girls will pay off. I’m blessed to have you by my side as a coach, but I’m even more blessed to call you my sister and my Virgo twin 😂.

Happy Birthday, Tyginae! Please continue being great, leading with purpose, and inspiring everyone around you. We love and appreciate you more than you know! 💙🏀

Happy Birthday to the best coach we could ever ask for! From all of us, we just want to thank you for always supporting us, believing in us, and pushing us to become better players and better people, both on and off the court.

You’re always there when we need you, you keep us laughing, and you treat us like we’re your own. Of course, you get on our nerves sometimes 😂, but we wouldn’t trade you for anything!

Every tough practice, every lesson, every laugh, and every “one more time” has helped shape us into who we are today. We’re beyond grateful to have a coach who genuinely cares about us as much as you do.

We hope you know how much you mean to all of us. We love and appreciate you more than you know!

Happy Birthday, Coach Trevis! 🥳🎂🏀❤️ We truly got the best one!

📚🏀 STUDENT-ATHLETES ON THE HILL 🏀📚

Building the TRUE definition of a STUDENT-ATHLETE.

When I took over this program, one of my biggest goals was to build a culture where our young ladies understood that being a student-athlete means exactly that, STUDENT FIRST. 🎓

My first recruiting class as Head Coach has officially completed their freshman year, and THE FOUNDATION IS SET. 🏔️💙

📚 Penelope “Penny” Moore, 3.89 Year GPA
🔥 Highest Quarter GPA, 3.99

📚 Goldie Okshteyn, 3.74 Year GPA
🔥 Highest Quarter GPA, 3.86

📚 Seanna Davis, 3.60 Year GPA
🔥 Highest Quarter GPA, 3.73

3 Student-Athletes. 3 Varsity Letterwinners. 100% earned Academic Honors. 3.74 Combined GPA. 🎓📚🏀

Penny. Goldie. Seanna.

You three are the beginning of something special. You are helping us establish what the standard will look like for the young ladies who come after you. Continue to work, continue to grow, continue to compete, and most importantly, continue to understand the importance of your education. 💙🤍

At TMLA, we don’t recruit basketball players. WE DEVELOP STUDENT-ATHLETES WHO EXCEL IN THE CLASSROOM, COMPETE ON THE COURT, AND LEAD IN LIFE.

CHARACTER | EXCELLENCE | UNITY | LEADERS FOR TOMORROW

The foundation is set. Now we build. 🏔️🔨💙

Happiest Birthday to my GOAT 🐐, my little fighter, Penny Wise, a.k.a. PULL UP P. 💙🏀

This year threw an unexpected obstacle in your path, but if there’s one thing I know about you, it’s that adversity doesn’t define you—it fuels you. Right now we’re making a quick stop, but trust me, the journey is far from over. We’ll be right back at it, and when that time comes, we’re turning it up on everybody standing in the way.

Keep that smile, keep that faith, and keep that same competitive spirit that makes you special. The comeback is already being written, and it’s going to be one for the books.

Enjoy your day, PULL UP P. The future is still yours. 💪🏾🐐🎉

Basketball has never been about titles, status, or climbing ladders for me.

I don’t coach because I’m chasing the next level. I coach because somebody once poured into me the same way I now pour into these kids. The coaches I grew up around didn’t do it for attention, money, or personal gain. They did it because they loved the game and believed in helping others. That’s the blueprint I was given.

Every clinic I attend, every connection I build, every lesson I learn is bigger than me. It’s about making sure these young women have access to opportunities, resources, and guidance that can help change their lives through basketball.

Some of these players already have dreams. Some of them haven’t even discovered theirs yet. My job is to help them believe bigger, work harder, and understand what’s possible for themselves on and off the court.

That’s the purpose. That’s the mission. And that will always mean more to me than any title ever could. 🏀

Basketball Off-Season Session Breakdown
(Phase 1, Week 3/4)

Working with skillful 🏀 Freshmen (both Varsity), but the focus is on building athleticism, locking in mechanics, and developing confident, explosive movers that translate to the court, letting their skill shine. ✨

Shoutout to @avat_2026 for pulling up early and setting the tone before her own workout. 💪🏾

A1. Ladder Warm-Up: Elevate heart rate + fire up coordination & CNS.

A2. Banded Warm-Up/Mobility: Activate key muscles + build range of motion around joints.

B. Landing Prep (Snap-Downs): Teach and prepare the body for force absorption, control & proper weight distribution.

(Also helps catch/correct knee valgus early.)

C. Landing → Plyos: Build stability, control, and explosiveness. Limit ground contact time.

Progressing double → single leg, forward + lateral.
With this group we are drilling foundations before progressing to complex drills/ max effort plyos. 3–4 drills, 8–10 reps each.

D. Strength + Mobility Circuit: Full ROM, clean technique > heavy weight.

2–3 sets, 4-5 exercises (moderate difficulty) + core work mixed in.

E. Cool Down / Practice: Recover or roll straight into skill work.

🌟 Goal: Stronger, more resilient athletes who can actually bring it to the court.

Drop questions, or send this to a hooper who needs structure and a plan for the summer!

This season was never just about wins and losses.

It was about development.
It was about accountability.
It was about laying the foundation for what TMLA basketball will become.

When you decide to change the culture of a program, it comes with challenges. Growth is uncomfortable. Adversity shows up. There are moments that test your patience, your resilience, and your belief in the process.

But this team never ran from that work.

Every practice, every rep, every tough conversation, every moment of adversity was part of building something bigger than a single season. We leaned into the values that define what it truly means to be a student athlete at The Mary Louis Academy.

Discipline.
Character.
Accountability.
Resilience.
Respect for the game and for each other.

Our 12 Core Principles are not just words. They are the standard that will define how this program grows moving forward.

This season we started returning TMLA basketball back to the true essence of the game. A game built on development, teamwork, sacrifice, and the commitment to get better every single day.

The wins will come.
The banners will come.
The recognition will come.

But the most important thing we built this season was the foundation.

And when the foundation is strong, everything else will rise with it.

This is what the new era of TMLA basketball looks like.

Ladies on the Hill.

What is a true Student Athlete?

It is not hype.
It is not potential.
It is not talk.

It is discipline when nobody is watching.

It is excellence in the classroom and resilience on the court.

It is mastering your books with the same intensity you bring to practice.

It is consistency when things get hard.

It’s January Jernigan graduating with a 5.0 GPA, earning Salutatorian honors, becoming a Posse Scholar with full tuition, and being selected into TMLA’s Aspire Program reserved for the top 10 percent of the class. Aspire provides elite college preparation and scholarship opportunities. In the Class of 2025, only three students were selected to receive the Aspire scholarship that covered the remaining cost of college after other awards. January is now attending Vanderbilt University.

It’s Mia Menzies being a 4 year Varsity basketball player, graduating with a 4.6 GPA, earning Principal’s List honors, and now continuing her journey at Sacred Heart University.

That did not happen by accident.

It is academic rigor.
It is leadership development.
It is character formation.

It is structure.
It is accountability.
It is expectation.

It is young women trained to think critically.
To compete fiercely.
To lead confidently.

Prepared in the classroom.
Prepared on the court.
Prepared for the world.

At The Mary Louis Academy:

• 100% college acceptance
• 86% graduate with Advanced Regents designation
• 75% take AP courses
• Over 36 million dollars in merit scholarships
• 11 to 1 student to faculty ratio
• 19 AP courses
• 100% graduation rate

And yes, 10% of students attend college on sports scholarships.

Being a student athlete is not about choosing one over the other. It is about dominating both.

At TMLA, we do not skip steps. We build women of courage, compassion, and excellence. Guided by knowledge. Grounded in faith.

That is the standard.
That is the culture.
That is the Hill.
