Wowow it always is wild to me how I grew up (and live) in a town that’s full of “dream shoot” locations. My dad worked at the Salish Lodge (the hotel above the falls) when I was a kid so it’s been so cool to incorporate Snoqualmie Falls & the Salish into my work as I expand my business to couples and elopements. Have you ever had Honey From Heaven at the Salish restaraunt? My dad came up with & trademarked that name!

This elopement session was one of the shoots that just gave me butterflies because of how magically everything came together, especially when Ariel and Brandon got on top of the rock 🧚‍♂️

Ok fine, I’ll admit it: I’m a lil wildly obsessed with Olympic National Park.🌲
 It’s basically multiple national parks rolled into one and somehow still feels quiet, wild, and untouched with all of its foggy rainforests, moody coastlines, mossy giants, and mountain views.

Writing your vows during your elopement isn’t procrastination. It’s presence.

Instead of forcing the “perfect” words weeks before, imagine it this way:
You hike out together, phones off, no crowds. You find the perfect spot on a cliffside, forest floor,or at a lighthouse and write to each other in real time.

Your vows become part of the moment. The wind blowing your veil. The way your hands are shaking just a little. No script, no performance. Just you.

This is one of my favorite elopement activities because it slows everything down. It gives space for emotion without an audience. And it turns your vows into something you’ll always associate with a specific place, smell, sound, and feeling.

There is no rule that says vows have to be written months in advance. They can be written barefoot, windswept, and surrounded by the landscape that holds your story.

If you want your elopement to feel intentional, intimate, and truly yours, let vow writing be part of the experience, not just the ceremony.

Save this if you want your elopement to feel like a memory you lived, not a timeline you rushed.

Throwing it back to Ariel and Brandon’s Winter Couples Session from last January in North Bend Wa. Why? Because why not- certain moments within a session really stick with me and are always worth revisiting. 🤎

A hand on a cheek, leaning in close, denim on denim… nothing fancy, nothing staged. Just them being themselves. We experienced literally all weather that day excluding snow. But the warmth always wins. 🤎

If there’s one thing I always tell my couples, it’s this:
you don’t need to perform for the camera. Just be present with each other. Those small, natural movements always photograph the best.

Even as we move from fall into winter, this kind of warmth is what I’m holding onto.
