I had the most incredible experience this summer with @cityoflightstheatre and all of the wonderful people involved in a production of Annie. This show has been close to my heart ever since eighth grade, where I played Annette in my middle school's production of Annie Jr., and I was elated to find out that I would be able to play a part in another telling of this lovely, happy story.

This time around, I was a maid, a Hooverville civilian, an usherette, and one of the lovely Boylan Sisters: Connie Boylan! It was so fun to be able to tap into so many different characters and connect with my friends onstage. Every scene felt electric and full of life every single time we performed, and I wouldn't change that for the world.

Thank you for everything. This summer was wonderful, and I absolutely cannot wait for what comes next!

And no, my fingers will never not be freezing, thank you very much.

SUMMER PART ONE 🥳
So many birthday parties (shoutout Frida and Tegan and YAMI🎉) . I was locked up at UIC for SI but met so many cool Ed and Music Ed majors who made it a blast (I literally can’t fit everyone in this post) AND I got to teach Bio and some piano💛🍎 Hangout at Chinatown with some Gapples and had Mario’s at BSB. Planetarium visit and the climate crisis ended the first half of summer pretty well (took me a week to recover from the wildfire smoke though, love it)

Golden Apple Scholar Insitute 1: 🍎✏️⭐️👩🏻‍🏫
These past two weeks reminded me why I chose education.

I walked away with new ideas, meaningful conversations, and a deeper appreciation for the kind of teacher I hope to become. Every discussion, challenge, and shared experience pushed me to reflect not only on how I want to teach, but on the environment I want to create for my future students.

One of my favorite parts was being surrounded by people who are just as passionate about learning, growing, and making a difference. It’s encouraging to know that the future of education is being shaped by so many thoughtful and dedicated educators.

I’m leaving Session 1 feeling inspired, grateful, and excited to keep learning. Here’s to continuing to grow with curiosity, purpose, and a heart for students. 💛📚
