The Corner Inn is an iconic Amsterdam snackbar which is currently undergoing renovation. While out of service we are using it’s sign and background to facilitate a series of exhibitions which will take place at Tramhouse 11. Surinameplein 122, Amsterdam.

[...]
What I can tell you for sure, is that last month, the space on the corner across from my window started renovations. The big sign that had caught my eye since I moved in was taken down. It said: Corner Inn. The people from Corner Inn were kind enough to give us the sign. They will have a new sign soon, once they finish renovating. We will bring the sign to our Inn and name it Corner Inn, so that the Corner Inn, like a true Inn, can exist in different places at the same time.

The Guesthouse - A poem by Jalaluddin Rumi

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

🪑Old but gold views from the works I showed at “Good Day Big Miss Steak” in November 2023 at @kate.artspace_ 🐖

Making this show together with @pastapestopastapesto , @bert.werk @pienovering @jettuuh @edgarthe3rd and Robin gave me a lot of hope and really renewed my energy. We used the idea of a table top as a prompt and I really do think stability is hot. I had a lot of fun making a stack of stable MDF paintings:

🔥On one side of Jette’s free standing wall you can see my queue/series of paintings titled “Stability is a dish best served hot”
Next to Bert’s small painting, there is “My dad is not a square, this cake is for him”
And next to Bert’s and Pien’s sculptures, there is “Don’t forget your legs under the table”
In the last slide, Pien is wearing her wearable art, literally
This show was heart blowing
