This year presented new challenges for me. Losing my grandfather at the start of the busiest week of the year was….trying to say the least. Being around chosen family and being too familiar with how to be gentle on myself as I grieve was bittersweet but necessary. I’m super grateful to my wonderful friends who helped support me and love on me. I’m also very grateful to have the honor of helping the @pocscholarship bring BIPOC to this event again, this year we had 13 scholars!
Hot take: offering mutual aid to diversify an industry event that is constantly betting on your erasure is EXHAUSTING but important work. BIPOC attendance grows every year but what does the APP do to make conference a safe space for us?🤔🤨🫢 I guess we’ll see if there are racists or abuse sympathizers teaching classes again next year. Stay tuned…… I’m not jaded, just sick and fucking tired of elitism and white supremacy in the piercing community.

What a wild week of running class to class, connecting with some of the most wonderful and inspirational people, and exploring the whacky world of Las Vegas!

My body may be burnt out, but my heart is full and my mind is rejuvenated with so many thoughts, feelings, and hope for the future that we're building in the piercing industry.

Thank you so much to everyone I've met this week, to the coordinators at @safepiercing who make this happen every year, and to @ms.brandilee for making my first APP possible. I'm incredibly grateful to be able to have this experience and can't wait to see what's next! 🖤
