More than 25 years ago, I fell in love with the stage, music, lights and technology.

25 years of being lucky enough to be surrounded by amazing people who share the same passion.
25 years of learning, creating, building, travelling, working — and somehow, making a living from something I truly love.

From my first PAR 56s, to my first jobs as a club light jockey, to my very first DIY laser… a lot of time has passed.

A lot has changed.
The technology has evolved.
The stages have become bigger.
But the passion is still exactly where it started.

And honestly, I couldn’t have done any of this alone.

So, to everyone I’ve met, worked with, learned from, created with, and shared a stage with over all these years:

Thank you. ❤️

It’s Friday ! 113, 1999 Les Princes de la Ville released October 27 on Small / Sony music. La famille, Karim Thiam @kthiam first ❤️ produced principally by DJ Mehdi with Pone of Fonky Family on two cuts, co-produced by 113, Mehdi and Manu Key. Cover a photo-montage where the 113 crew literally builds its own name and album title in a Vitry-sur-Seine visual grammar — art direction by Julien Pelgrand and 360, photography by Alexander Wise, Hugues Lawson, Philippe Hamon and Thibaut de Longeville. I was there at Small when this dropped, lots of memories. Three kids from the 94 — Rim’K the Algerian, AP the Guadeloupean, Mokobé the Malian — put the immigrant-kid narrative at the center of French pop. Mafia K’1 Fry as flag. “Tonton du bled” the anthem that turned every immigrant father into a national character. “Les Princes de la Ville” flipping Curtis Mayfield’s “Make Me Believe in You”. “Main dans la main” over Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye’s “You Are Everything”. “Face à la police” over Al Green. “1001 Nuits” featuring Big Red of Raggasonic, “Ouais gros” and “Hold Up” as street-cinema miniatures. DJ Mehdi at 22 already a strategist of French rap production — Kraftwerk samples and Berber violins folded into the same beat, years before Ed Banger and his solo trajectory. Two prizes at the March 2000 Victoires de la Musique. Then the album disappears from stores for fifteen years — sample-clearance limbo — before finally returning in October 2024, weeks before Arte’s *DJ Mehdi : Made in France*. Before Diam’s, before Booba, before Damso, before PNL, before Ninho, before every rapper who inherited the block-and-old-country geography as pop material — the founding album of the French rap that became France’s biggest music. A West Indian, a Malian, an Algerian, and a producer who was about to change it all. 🇫🇷🇩🇿🇲🇱🇬🇵🎧 enjoy !
