“La Chapelle”
Paris
Jan24

———

A few weeks ago, I strolled along the canal from the Porte de la Chapelle. After a few minutes of walking, I came across a sunny little house where two young girls were guarding the entrance. As I approached, the youngest one struck a pose upon noticing my camera concealed under my coat. One thing led to another, and I ended up chatting with the mother of the family, who explained they had been living there for five years now. Their windowless house was situated on the quays, just a 3-minute walk from the bars along the Canal de l’Ourcq. She then asked me to take photos of her newborn, Enzo, who was only two months old. Across the canal, opposite their house, a crowd gathered under a footbridge. Their new neighbors had arrived a few months earlier, after the « crack hill » had been moved away from under the Porte de la Chapelle.
