A day on set ⭐️ #kawalees

We just wrapped up our last shoot for Black Gold. We spent three days filming in the high mountains of Shmestar, in the Bekaa Valley, and we’re feeling very grateful to have spent this time with Nazih, Daad, the shepherds and the goats. Thank you to everyone who has supported us this far. Your generous donations allowed us to wrap up the filming with our amazing crew Hasan Haidar @hasan_hhaidar behind the camera and Pierre Baz @pierrebaz_ on sound !

Now it’s time for us to move on to the next step…

Tomorrow we start editing, building the story that we want to share with the wonderful @nkoulakhoury. We’re almost 2/3rds of the way to our crowdfunding goal. For those who would like to see this project come to life, now is the time to support! Any donation, big or small, will help us reach our goal. Thank you in advance for believing in this project. To donate, check out the link in our bios.

Ghina and Hassan, Black Gold’s DOP, caught in action.

Every night, Nazih, Daad and the shepherds, sit down for dinner together in their tent, enjoying Daad’s delicious cooking.

The crew capturing this moment of Nazih watching over his flock at sunrise. We’d woken up at 2am so we wouldn’t miss the sun rising over the camp!

Nazih captured the crew enjoying a coffee break in Zahle in the back of his pick up truck after finishing his morning milk route.

Despite the high altitude and remoteness of the location, we discovered illegal quarries along the way.

Donkey!

The breathtaking moment the goats get let out of their pen at sunrise to eat before the morning milking.

Hassan and Nazih bonding over coffee and cigarettes

Nazih’s morning moments of solace - enjoying a cigarette after the goats leave the camp to graze for the day, leaving the newborn babies behind.

Stewardship on the 23rd of May was about giving back to one of the places we hang out often. Together, we cleaned the trail, cleared tree branches, removed garbage, and built a bridge to improve access across the cliff.

Climbing areas don’t stay beautiful and accessible on their own. Stewardship and conservation are essential to protecting the natural environments we enjoy, ensuring they remain safe, sustainable, and welcoming for future generations of climbers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Every bag of trash removed, every trail maintained, and every effort invested helps preserve the fragile balance between recreation and nature.

Thank you to each and everyone who took part!
