If I could’ve wrote to myself I would’ve said hey. before you say yes to this. you’re going to think it’s a small thing. grab a camera, talk about the stuff already working or not working for you. or just keep the energy going from the last meeting, push record and see what happens. it is not a small thing. you have no idea what you’re walking into. a year in you’re going to sit across from andrea and cry. actual tears, over a decision, over engagement, over whether any of this makes sense. you’re going to feel like a crazy person, spending money and time and your name on something you can’t prove is working. somewhere in that same year you’re going to wonder if this is the thing that finally breaks the balance, taking on more on top of the restaurants and the deals and being a husband and being leonardo’s dad. i need you to know that feeling doesn’t mean stop. it means you care more than you’re used to admitting out loud, and it means you need to be honest with yourself about what you can actually carry. then the calls are going to start. strangers, operators, people running businesses, telling you some rant you almost didn’t record led them to reaching out. that’s going to humble you every time it happens, and it’s going to keep happening. just opening up your laptop, having the team record and talk about whats going on and somehow it lands where it needs to land. here’s the part you need to hear now. this was never supposed to be big. you didn’t start this to build an audience. you started it because you had something to say and a few people willing to listen. if it stays small forever, that was always fine. the smallness was never the failure you’re going to worry it is. you’re still going to check the numbers and feel confused. that part doesn’t fully go away. you’re going to sit with this exact question over and over. how are you this sure it matters and still this unsure it’s working. you’re going to spend real money on cameras and a studio and a team’s time because somewhere in there you decide media is a craft, not a hobby, and every episode is going to make you respect the people who do this for real a little more than the episode before. and
