Return on this unbelievable moment in Montreal area.

Aside from meeting a real passionate, I was lucky enough to have the presentation and a test listening session of this wonderful @pilotradiolabs preamplifier.

What can I say, it’s neutral, never makes you tired, absolutely well balanced, and with good speakers, you get placed inside the music room. You dive into music, can absolutely hear every single detail and voices are unreal …

Would really love to own one of this beast and most of all, hear the amplifier one day.

Congrats to @pilotradiolabs for their work, it’s definitely worth it !!

They're meant for vinyl... for glowing tubes... and for getting lost in the music.

A rainy Tuesday is the perfect excuse to slow down, pour yourself a drink, and let a great record remind you why we fell in love with this hobby in the first place.

Tonight's companion: ✨ Thorens TD124 MkII ✨ Pilot Radio Preamplifier 🔥

🎶 Every listening room has its favorite seat.

This one happens to begin behind a Thorens TD-124 Mk II... with a Pilot Radio tube preamplifier patiently waiting to bring the music to life.

Sometimes the best moments in Hi-Fi happen before the first note even plays.

The quiet anticipation.
The ritual.
The connection.

What's the first album you'd place on this turntable?

👇 I'd love to hear your pick.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗲𝗮𝗿. 🎶

More than two years ago, Mathieu and I connected through Instagram. What started with a few messages quickly turned into regular conversations, phone calls, and countless discussions about our shared passion for vintage audio. A genuine friendship was born… even though we had never met in person.

This week, Mathieu traveled to Québec with his family for their vacation, and we finally had the chance to meet face to face. Today, he made the drive to my home, where we spent a couple of hours enjoying great music, sharing stories, laughing, and simply enjoying each other's company.

Of course, one of the highlights of the visit was listening to the beautiful 𝙋𝙞𝙡𝙤𝙩 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙧, a piece he had been looking forward to hearing for a long time. I think it's safe to say he left absolutely impressed by what this incredible preamp can do.

But beyond the gear, what made today truly special was seeing our families meet for the first time. Our wives, our children... everyone got along so naturally. Moments like these remind us that this hobby is about much more than collecting vintage equipment—it's about the amazing people we meet along the way.

Who would have thought that a simple Instagram message could one day lead to such a memorable friendship?

Thank you, merci Mathieu, and thank you to your wonderful family for taking the time to visit us. You will always be welcome in our home 💯👍🎶

This is what this passion is really about.

This absolutely beautiful @pilotradiolabs preamplifier bears a history reaching back to the company’s founding in 1919, and while its aesthetic and core concepts are direct-descendants, the execution leverages modern ideas and processes.

The result is an incredibly straight forward execution:

Two line level single ended inputs, and a selectable dedicated MM or MC option onboard, with a single set of single ended outputs to attach any amplifier on the market, including their own forthcoming matched mate!

An ultra simple, direct signal path, featuring 2 x 12AX7 / ECC83 and 2 x 12AU7 / ECC82 and Oil in Paper Caps, leveraging a core circuit board where most effective and otherwise a mixture of point to point wiring and mechanically stable turret connections.

It’s a beautiful unit as well. It could have looked like an anvil, but Pilot took the time to use simple design language to make something serene and handsome. It features a grill pattern calling directly back to classic Pilot designs.

Priced at $3500, this is a as pure a classic tube preamplifier as you could wish for. Zero additional fluff and among the richest tones we’ve ever heard with class defining depth and weight.

Make time to come give it a listen, and keep an eye out for new marvels on the way from this legendary house of sound!
