Celebrating my honey in Honey Creek 🍯

The gang set out for a short backpacking trip on the Honey Creek Loop in Big South Fork. We saw lots of flowers, caverns, and caught some big ole fish. So grateful for friends that also love spending time in the woods and aren’t discouraged by rain in the forecast.

One year ago we started a little walk from Mexico to Canada 🥹

I don’t think I ever posted my stats from my journaling app, Hiker’s Logbook. In honor of that 2,650 mile walk, here’s a break down of my trip from April 8, 2025-September 11, 2025.

It’s amazing where one leap of courage can take you.

Since finishing the trail, I’ve been able to share my experience online through my writing. My hope is that my musings/content can be a resource for hikers and a source of inspiration. Sharing my experience along the way brings me so much joy, and I’m grateful for you tagging along for the ride 🥰

Season 13, that’s a wrap. 🎙️🏔️

This season of Hikes & Mics took us all over the map — from Denali training routes and the Canadian Rockies to Yellowstone geysers, Everest Base Camp, thru-hiking love stories, survival lessons, entrepreneurship on the trail, and even Antarctica. Along the way we talked resilience, creativity, belonging, leadership, and the many different ways people find meaning in the outdoors.

Season 13 was also a milestone for the show, with our first two full video episodes now live on YouTube — opening up a whole new way to experience these conversations. 🎥

Huge thank you to every guest who shared their story, wisdom, and vulnerability with us this season. These conversations are the heart of the show, and we’re grateful for every mile of trail and every story told along the way.

Our final days on trail 🥹 we reached the Canadian border on September 11, 2025. Our five month long journey drew to a close at a quiet clearing deep in the woods.

The final days on trail were bittersweet as we tried to bask in the enormity of what we had accomplished and relish the simple moments on trail. We reminisced with friends we passed along the way and commiserated in having to backtrack 30 miles to Harts Pass.

It took a while, but we were able to hitch down into Mazama and spend a few nights at Lion’s Den Hostel. Lion/Mary greeted us with kindness and warmth, and we began arranging travel back into “the real world”.

I’ll always been grateful for the memories and friends I made along this trail. Now that I’ve been home for several months, my time on the PCT feels like a dream.

I keep saying over and over again how lucky I am to have experienced the beauty of the PCT. I saw vistas and sunrises in places that many people won’t get to behold with their own eyes. I miss the easy rhythm of life on trail every day, but feel so fortunate to have something to miss.

PCT Day 158-159, September 12-13, 2025: 15.9 miles (with no trending audio) ✨

Our final days as thru-hikers as this grand adventure draws to a close. Because PCT hikers are no longer able to enter Canada, we had to hike the 30ish miles southbound back to Harts Pass after touch reaching the northern terminus. One final day on trail felt like the best way to close this chapter, and we got to celebrate with tons of other hikers as they made the trek down to the monument.

We were excited to reach Harts Pass and hang out at the trailhead magic we’d seen set up several days before. A trial angel named World Class had erected large tents compete with couches, astroturf, propane refrigerators, and StarLink. There wasn’t any food when we arrived, but he welcomed us in with drinks and we got comfortable on the couches and connected to the WiFi.

All the hikers linger at Harts Pass were waiting to hitch down into Mazama, and this created a significant bottle neck. There weren’t any cars going up or down the road, and with 20+ people we sat and waited for a ride. It took several hours, but eventually we were picked up and made it down to Mazama. We headed to Lion’s Den hostel where the owner, Mary, showed us around and made us feel right at home.

The following day was a waiting game as we tried to organize a ride from Mazama to Seattle. We did our final “town chores” of showering and laundry, and enjoyed the hospitality of the small town community. One last day at a hostel felt like the perfect send off, and we tied to soak up every last moment of life on trail.

Sharing this journey has been such a gift, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to bring folks along. Thanks for being here for the highs and lows of my trek from Mexico to Canada. We did it ✨

PCT Day 157, September 11, 2025: 21.1 miles (with no trending audio) ✨

WE MADE IT TO CANADA!!!

We woke up early to begin our descent to the monument. We left our tent at Hopkins Lake and slackpacked the 6ish miles down to the border. We were mostly in the forest, but suddenly we walked into a clearing amongst shouts and cheers. The northern terminus of the PCT stood at the edge of the clearing as if it grew there.

The clearing was full of other hikers taking photos and prolonging the inevitable end of their adventure. We posed for pictures, signed the log book, and tried to memorize the moment and what it felt like to finally reach our destination.

After hours of lingering, I decided to begin the climb back to the lake. I splashed in the water while waiting for the rest of my tramily to arrive. We packed up the tents, ate lunch, and eventually began hiking south back towards Harts Pass. We’d spend one more. Light on trail before hitching into Mazama the next day.

It hasn’t sank in that we are finished. Will it feel more real once we are in town? I know the more time passes after trail, this long walk will feel like a dream. For now I want to savor the feeling of accomplishment and the easy nature of life in the woods.

PCT Day 156, September 10, 2025: 18.3 miles (with no trending audio) ✨

Our final full day on the PCT! We will tag the Canadian border tomorrow, but will then have to take a full day to backtrack to Harts Pass since hikers can no longer walk into Canada. Once at Harts Pass, we’ll hitch down into Mazama and begin the journey home.

We woke up to a beautiful morning and took our time breaking down camp. All day long we passed hikers heading back from the monument, so it was fun to deliver congratulations and high fives. The views all day were stunning, it felt like we were on a red carpet making our way to Canada. It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come. I can’t wrap my mind around the fact that it’s all drawing to a close.

We took a long break for lunch and dozed in the shade before continuing on. Our destination for the evening was Hopkins Lake. We planned to camp there and slackpack to the monument the next day. We arrived at camp and enjoyed a relaxing evening before settling in for the night.

PCT Day 155, September 9, 2025: 18.5 miles (with no trending audio) ✨

The rain lasted on and off throughout the night, but we woke up to mostly sunny skies. I began the long climb and quickly lost count of the switchbacks. The ascent was unending, but the time I spent catching my breath gave me the chance to admire the view.

After what felt like hours I crested the ridge and cruised along a plateau. Truffles caught up to me and we hiked together as we neared Harts Pass.

We took a break at the Ranger station with other hikers for lunch before distant thunder spurred us onwards. We hiked hard the rest of the afternoon, racing against looming clouds to set up camp before the storm arrived.

PCT Day 154, September 8, 2025: 20.6 miles (with no trending audio) ✨

We woke up to clouds and showers as we hiked towards Rainy Pass. We crossed the road and began the long climb to Cutthroat Pass. As we climbed, the clouds broke and the sunshine came out. The higher we climbed, the better the views got!

When we finally made it to the top, we hung out for a while just taking it all in. The rest of the day was scenic and we continued a seemingly endless cycle of ups and downs.

Once we were below treeline again, the clouds returned along with showers. We hastily made camp, and Truffles and I set the tent up in a tiny spot by a large boulder. Despite our less than ideal site, I’m sure we’ll sleep well tonight.

Waking up to a sky filled with smoke sealed our decision to bail. We had no idea if the fires were close to us, and with little outside information to go on, we chose to play it safe and get off trail.

We took the Cady Ridge Trail off the PCT and were lucky enough to catch a ride with some cowboys back into Leavenworth. From there we hitched/rode a bus up to Wenatchee so that we could hop on a ferry the following day and skip up to Stehekin. Does the ferry across Lake Chelan count as an aquablaze?

We arrived in the peaceful community of Stehekin and settled in for the night before hitting the trail the following day. The highlight of this stretch was a stop at the famous Stehekin Pastry Company, and we packed out fresh cinnamon rolls and homemade Pop Tarts.

Back on trail, we found a swimming hole and took a dip before climbing towards Rainy Pass. It’s really starting to hit me than we only have a few more days on trail. I’m amazing and underwhelmed at the same time.
