Patti Smith charmed Miami during an unforgettable night at the Adrienne Arsht Center.

Presented in partnership with Books & Books and Miami Book Fair, the evening was centered around Smith’s latest memoir, “Bread of Angels,” and showcased the kind of honest, multidisciplinary artistry that transcends generations and continues to inspire.

There were tears, laughter and plenty of poignant moments as Smith, who graced the cover of Miami New Times in November 2024, reflected on love, loss, art and politics. She dedicated a song to John Lennon and his son Sean, covered Bob Dylan, wished filmmaker Guillermo del Toro a happy birthday and spoke movingly about her late husband, Fred “Sonic” Smith.

At 79, the punk rock poet proved that her passion and creative spirit remain as powerful as ever, delivering a performance that was as intimate as it was soul-stirring.

Here she is performing one of her most beloved songs, “Because the Night.”

Happy National Latina Day to all who celebrate. 💕

There are simply too many incredible Latinas in the art world for one post! This will have to be a two parter.

Feeling very lucky to be surrounded by so many brilliant Latinas who are making space, opening doors, and uplifting our community. Y’all inspire me every single day. 🥹💕 #NationalLatinaDay
