About Eli ☀️ Eli Villongco started training Filipino Kali and Silat Buka Lingkaran in 2019 under the school Pamana Kali. Under the close eyes of his Guros, he’s evolved from teaching kids to adults alike spreading the teachings gifted to him from the diaspora of martial artists. Forever a student, he hopes to educate and inspire his fellow community members and connect with them on a cultural level.

Days like these remind us to prioritize self-care, create space to pause, and give ourselves time to restore. Because self-care is community care. 🫶🏽

KUBO Organizing Project is raising $7,000 through @longbeachgives to support programs centered on cultural enrichment and health equity — all through a lens of community healing.

❤️ Tots/kids, adults, elders, and anyone you call family welcome! Note: This is not a drop off event. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Together we’ll try Philippine dance Gaway-Gaway, a Philippine folk dance from Leyte Province that celebrates a bountiful harvest of the gaway plant, a type of taro grown for its edible roots and vegetables.

Three weeks ago, community members gathered to pause and prioritize rest at Ebbing & Flowing Through the Arts: Wellness Day.

Together, we explored movement, experienced restorative yoga, and immersed ourselves in a healing sound bath. Moments like these remind us why we do the work that we do. At the heart of KUBO OP is the belief that self-care is community care, and healing happens in community.

A heartfelt thank you to the Arts Council of Long Beach @artslb and the City of Long Beach @longbeachcity for the grant that made this gathering possible. We are also deeply grateful to pinaypages @pinaypages, Liza Gesuden @thelza, and Neil Belen @omnei_being for sharing their gifts, energy, and care with our community. 🌱

received its first grant ever! A huge THANK YOU to @artslb for including us in the IMAGINE28 Grant. I’m excited that @pinaypages will continue offering a FREE series of intergenerational Philippine arts and wellness programs hosted at @wavestudiospace in Long Beach, running now through December 2026. The project blends movement, music, and martial arts with social-emotional arts practices to create accessible spaces for healing and connection.
