Quick reminder to check in on your mates who are running a business.

From the outside, it can look like they’re absolutely killing it — busy, growing, posting the wins and making it all look like good fun.

But the reality behind the scenes can be very different.

Long days, late nights, pressure, staff, customers, bills, cash flow and the constant feeling that you need to keep everything moving. Most business owners are pretty good at making it look easier than it actually is.

So check in on your mates. Not about work, not about how busy they are — ask how they’re actually going.

Grab them for a coffee, have a chat and give them somewhere to switch off for half an hour.

Sometimes that coffee and a proper conversation can mean more than you realise. ☕️🤝

Either way, one thing’s for sure… make sure everyone at the facility knows you’re doing a smoke test.

Otherwise you might accidentally provide a complimentary fire safety drill. 🔥😂💨

Simple little trick for drilling out the spigot on a trap when you’re hooking up a dishwasher or washing machine.

Using a short piece of copper in the drill instead of a drill bit stops it grabbing and punching straight through the other side of the trap.

Danny from Pineapple Plumbing on the Northern Beaches showed me this one.

Absolutely unbelievable! 🤯 It seems this client allegedly purchased a property where previous tenants connected a kitchen line to the storm water. We initially thought it was tree roots blocking the drain, then a sewer issue, but it turns out someone illegally connected a kitchen line to the storm water line. Now we're dealing with sludge, grease, and cooking leftovers from decades ago! I have no idea why this wasn't caught in a plumbing inspection report, especially since they claim to have had one done. I'm completely godsmacked. #Plumbing #Inspection #property
