Why does the estate planning program for farmers my law firm is hosting thru March 2027 mean so much to me? Dig into this food history & geography lesson to learn a little about my roots and it may make a little more sense to you. The law firm, Wallis, Bowens, Averhart & Associates, PLLC has a Facebook page where you can find contact information I shared in today’s stories. Check out today’s grocery haul from @theblackfarmersmarketnc.

Today, on Labor Day, we celebrate the hands behind the work.

The farmers and entrepreneurs that plant, harvest, bake, make, pack, load and bring their ideas to life week after week.

Today, we honor that labor and hope we all find time to prioritize rest, enjoy the people we love and put the work down for a bit.

And when the work starts again, let’s commit to keep supporting it.

Shop local. Shop small. Know who made what you buy!

A little Sunday at the Black Farmers Market in Durham. 🌿✨

Today was a beautiful reminder of why I enjoy bringing Angelica Wellness Shop into community spaces.

Between customers, I captured a few moments from the day—my booth, the market moving around me, neighboring vendors, fresh produce, and even a little North Carolina rain. 🌧️

I love being surrounded by farmers, makers, small businesses, and people who come out to support what is being created right here in our community.

From Brain Boost Tea Brew and SlimCleanse Detox Tea to Marigold Energy Black Tea and Loaded Iced Tea, it was a good day of sharing tea, connecting with customers, and watching people discover something new.

And that’s one of the things I appreciate most about markets.

You come to share what you’ve created, but you also get to see what everyone around you is creating—from fresh watermelons and local produce to specialty products like Pine Knot Farm’s Sweet Potato Pecan Butter. 🤎

It’s more than setting up a tent and selling products.

It’s conversation.
It’s discovery.
It’s supporting one another.
It’s community.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by my booth today, tried the teas, asked questions, made a purchase, or simply took a moment to say hello.

I’m grateful to be part of it. 🌿

If you’ve experienced Earthan Vessel, then you know this business comes with an incredible product made by even more incredible beings. As you are supporting your local farmers, please stop by her table and grab some refreshing lemonade. See you Saturday!

This past weekend, we were able to distribute fresh produce to families at @conehealth “Building a Better You” resource fair and Gabriel Lodge 115 annual Book Bag Drive in Hampton Homes. Thank you to the farmers within our network for the contribution and to the community partners for all of the work they do on a daily.
