On the road again! Getting my bikie mojo back means winter training starts here, in 28° centigrade and short everything. Enjoyed that - a short, intense blast around the never-ending up-and-down roads around here; glad to still be able to do this. It's a masochistic love of putting myself through the wringer, to see how deep I can go; it's the ultimate mental health tonic, really.

Pretty much the perfect birthday lunch (his, not mine) at @ristorante_emilia_portonovo, with the sound of the sea lapping near our feet, wonderful service, heavenly food and wine, and excellent company. How envious I am of anyone who has a birthday in the summer, but how lucky I am to be able to fully enjoy it too.

Pizza and beer fest in town tonight with a live band. The temperature cooled down enough and with a breeze, made it tolerable! I don't know how this crew did all of this for so many hours!

Film fact #1 - Have you ever heard of the camera obscura? Cameras have been around a lot longer than most think, just not in the same fashion. Camera obscura was mostly used by painters to aid with perspective and detail; but the method was later adapted once photochemistry came about, through the use of smaller pinhole cameras. Portrait photographer Ross den Otter still utilizes this method present day, highlighting the roots of analog photography! 📷🎞️

I have been keeping my eye on a patch of milk thistle growing in a field below town owned by a friend of ours. He lets us go and forage there for wild greens like chicory, sow thistle, wild radish and curly dock. We just call ahead so he can advise his mother who lives in a nearby house that the strangers rummaging through the family field are friends. Today I brought home a big bag of prickly milk thistle. I had carefully cut of as many of the prickly spine as I could but I still ended up get stabbed while cleaning the leaf mid ribs to prepare them for battering a deep frying. Was the pain and effort worth it? Always.

Six months into it, this outstanding art school is really “a heaven” for the creative people. ✨

Same time last year, never did I ever imagine in my life that I would be flying miles away from home to a foreign land to learn photography in an art school.

Some dreams do come true, eh? 😉

What can I say? Life will throw surprises at you when you are not expecting any.
Maybe that's the secret magic to living a beautiful life! Having no anticipations, just staying in the present, accepting your situation and giving your best.

It's been a roller coaster ride so far, and I would like to thank my parents, who are on the other side of the world, for believing in me, for being my epitome of support and for their love. ❤️

Also, my humble gratitude to the remarkable gang of instructors whom I see as angels and my buddies from school for being a part of my learning journey.

God has been kind. 🙌🏻

We do this job because of the freedom that it allows us when you inhabit a character or take on a new role or challenge etc.

But in the last few years I found it to create the opposite. I've found that you start to hold on to those little bits of success and try to squeeze as much juice out of that lemon as possible.

And so if you look at artists especially the music industry who constantly reinvent themselves and don't just try to recreate that one hit single they had 20 years ago, those are the ones that succeed.

So here's to starting over. Here's to not giving a f***. Lol
And the SAG strike will settle, as well as now the WGA - and we can put that into practice, and step into some new shoes.

Hopefully this helps anyone out there stuck in a rut.

"💩 emoji" In the comment section, if you've ever been in a rut or are in a rut or even know what the word means. Or if you just feel like putting 💩 emoji. Because who doesn't?
