Lost $300k. Moved to the Philippines. Started over.
I told @pinoyfloyd the full story what actually happened, what I got wrong, and how I'm rebuilding a business here in Cebu

No sugarcoating. Just the real numbers and the lessons that came with them.

One of my favourite moments from this conversation.
It’s one thing to hear people recommend Malaysia…
It’s another hearing someone realise why after seeing it for themselves.
Would Malaysia be somewhere you’d consider living?

One of the biggest surprises about Malaysia wasn’t the skyline or the infrastructure.
It was seeing so many different cultures living together so naturally.
It’s something you only really appreciate once you’re here.

Malaysia completely changed their expectations!
From the moment they left the airport, it felt very different to what they imagined Southeast Asia would be.
Sometimes a first impression tells you a lot more than you expect.

Most people compare countries by cost of living.
But after spending years living around Southeast Asia, I’ve found that everyday life often matters much more.
That’s where the real differences begin. Full interview in the link in bio 🇲🇾🇵🇭

🇵🇭 We asked Pinoy Floyd: What’s your biggest con about living in the Philippines?

His answer? 👇

*“The phrase ‘you get what you pay for’ doesn’t always apply here. Sometimes you pay premium prices but don’t always get premium quality or service—and other times you’ll find incredible value in the most unexpected places.”

That’s part of living in the Philippines. Every experience is different, and learning where to spend (and where to save) makes a huge difference.

It doesn’t mean the Philippines isn’t an amazing place to live—it just means managing expectations and doing your research can go a long way.

💬 What’s your experience? Do you agree or disagree with Floyd? Share your thoughts in the comments!

💰 Thinking about moving to the Philippines? 🇵🇭

I sat down with @PinoyFloyd to talk about one of the biggest questions expats ask: How much does it really cost to live in the Philippines?

From affordable lifestyles to luxury living, we break down realistic monthly budgets, the biggest expenses to expect, and what you can actually get for your money.

The truth? Your budget depends on where you live, your lifestyle, and how well you plan—but it’s probably different than what you’ve heard online.

Would you move to the Philippines if it meant a better quality of life? 👇

💬 Comment “MOVE” and I’ll send you my FREE Expat Guide packed with tips on visas, housing, healthcare, banking, and everything you need to know before making the move.
