Some watches are made for the mountains. Others find their way there. For Polish mountaineer, photographer, and lifelong outdoorsman Piotr Ma, the Tatra Mountains are familiar ground. It’s where his love of the outdoors began more than 40 years ago, and where he recently spent two weeks putting our new #Titanium #GSAR through its paces. Rock, water, dirt, and long days on the trail. The Grade 5 titanium GSAR delivered the toughness Piotr already knew from his stainless steel model, with 30% less weight on the wrist. But there’s more to this story. Piotr shares his philosophy on the outdoors, the importance of good equipment, and why knowing when to turn back might be the most valuable skill a #mountaineer can learn. NEW WORK! For well over a decade, I’ve been an avid follower of the one and only @piotr_ma, whose outdoor style and gear sensibilities are only outpaced by his ability to photograph his adventures so well. So when the amazing folks @marathonwatch came to the @wornandwound team to help them launch their brand new 41mm GSAR forged in titanium, I thought to myself… what if we could get Piotr to put this lighter-weight watch through its paces? I figured it’d be a long shot, but turns out Piotr is both a Marathon fan and has such a humble, eager, and collaborative spirit! We got the watch into his hands the very day he was heading deep into the Tatra Mountains of Poland and I’m simply blown away by both the product and scenic results of his photography! It’s a perfect match to how we envisioned this particular product being positioned. I also had the distinct honor to interview Piotr about his life, his gear, and his experience with this new titanium Marathon. Hit the link in my bio to read the full interview. There’s no plan for a steel change at CRK right now, but anyway… I’m now a long-term real-life-use test driver for the MagnaMax. I’m not biased towards the new steel, for me MagnaCut is a perfect blend of edge holding, toughness, and corrosion resistance. So, could I be surprised? Especially for a small blade like Inyoni? Could this comparison change my mind in a quarter, or maybe half year? Let’s see… time will tell. I’ll be reporting here.
