Inktober Day 10: MYSTICAL

Never underestimate the magic of a terrier in a red cape! Complete with his trusty sidekick, Trevor the giraffe.

Now, a very sincere apology to today’s mystery dog. This creation went so badly wrong that I appear to have painted your evil twin.

The only problem is, this little dog doesn’t have an evil bone in his body! And he is a buddy to all.

Clearly some mystical forces were at work between the photograph and my paintbrush.

Sorry, little pal. You deserved better!

Today we rolled deep into Clayton Off-Leash Dog Park in Surrey to celebrate the one-year anniversary meetup of our local schnauzer community, and let me tell you, our little gray beard cult has grown exponentially over the past year. 🇨🇦

We all rocked our official green meetup bandanas while posing for the group photo, though my mind was laser-focused on the real agenda: figuring out how to consume cake for humans, cake for dogs, and an endless mountain of raffle prizes. 💚

Once the festivities kicked off, I immediately deployed my two specialized skill sets: conducting high-level intelligence sweeps of every storage box under and behind the registration desk to sniff out hidden contraband, and organizing a professional-grade begging circle with my fellow schnauzers as if we hadn’t eaten in an entire month. 🤣

It always takes roughly three minutes to find that one weak human who completely caves under our collective senior stare and hands over free gourmet snacks we definitely didn’t pay for. 😅

That right there is peak schnauzer math at its finest, turning a simple anniversary celebration into a massive, zero-cost culinary heist. 😎

It’s Ohana Day, the 7th day of this celebration for @the_terrier_union and #tufamilyweek2026 💗 I’m sitting on My Buddy Bench to remember the times I’ve shared with you… from my first irl meetup with @lolabirdj to a zoom around the backyard with 💚 @theemeraldofoz I’m glad I’m in your #ohana
I’ve been fortunate to have met irl many pups and pals, from Spokane to Canada to England and Wales and France. I’ve had humans pick me up and walk with me when I needed them most. I hope that I’ve done the same over the years.
There’s nothing quite like this community. Thank you for sharing your joys and your sorrows. The world is a little brighter, closer, and kinder because of you 💗

🐾 TU Family Week — DAY 2 — A is for ADVENTURE! ❤️

We terriers have a special talent: we can turn almost any day into an adventure.

Sometimes it is a big adventure — travelling somewhere new, exploring a beach, climbing a trail, meeting friends, or setting off on holiday.

Sometimes it happens right here in the TU led by Captain Lola, Pippin and Bob! @lolabirdj @pippin.mini @sir_bob_the_mighty_fox_terrier

We have competed in TUG, travelled the world through one another’s posts, solved some very suspicious mysteries together … and, naturally, found more than a little mischief along the way. 😏🐾 #itisalwaysthebutler @ecocharliezulu

And our adventures do not end when one of our friends becomes a TU Angel. @estellesato @finley_wirefoxterrier

So today we would like to dedicate our Adventure Day to Angel Picasso @hilde_en_picasso . Picasso was one of our great TU adventurers, often heading off on another mission with his good friend Rocket @rocketjourneys .

We are still getting used to Picasso having left for the Rainbow Bridge so suddenly. But somehow it feels right to imagine that he has not stopped adventuring at all.

Perhaps Angel Picasso is still leading the way — just from a little further ahead with all our beautiful TU Angels. 🌈🐾

So today, show us your adventures. Big ones, little ones, holidays, walks, TU adventures, mysteries, road trips or simply an ordinary day that became extraordinary because you were there.

Because that is what we do.

We make any day an adventure. 🐾♥️🐾

Summer shenanigans.

Despite the searingly hot days and Mum’s terminal lethargy, we have managed to do a few things this holiday.

1. Obviously I won ‘Best Trick’ and ‘Dog in the Best Condition’ at the social event of the year – the ‘Hastings and St Leonards Dog Training Club’ Fun Night. Just ignore the 4th place green rosette for ‘Most Handsome Dog’ – clearly you agree the judge needs to go to Specsavers.

2. A big ‘Thank You’ to Pippin and his Mum @pippin.mini for the fantastic card drawn by Sarah Julie of @theatelierdog and the lovely dog tag for being a Captain in the TU Games. We are so sorry we didn’t thank you earlier – Mum put the card and tag in a different ‘very safe place’ and has only just found them so that she could photograph me posing proudly in front of them.

3. Mum and Auntie Julie took Chico and me to the eccentric annual ‘Blessing the Animals’ in Hastings Old Town Week. It goes without saying I have been a very good boy all year and probably got an extra special blessing to acknowledge this.

4. We went to a family birthday party in Southsea where I got to play with 4 Working Cocker Spaniels, while Ella the tiny terrier kept us all in check (terrified us really). I was really taken with the two 9-month-old sisters – rather too taken, Mum said. I do feel that the Spaniels were a bit sneery and kept calling me Pretty Boy. I think that’s a bit rude, don’t you? They may be Working Cockers but I bet they haven’t had to do a day’s work in their lives – unlike me, who doesn’t stop. Mum just told me to ignore them and get over myself. I think it was unkind of her to add that life doesn’t revolve around me – er hello!

5. There were lots of opportunities for water and mud play.

6. As usual, cafés and lattes loomed large, and we were so lucky to meet the Bears, Bertie and Molly, and their Mum and Dad, Sandra and Simon, @gottacraft in their amazing café @bosuns_of_queenborough.

7. After a difficult day trip to Deal, where I endured Mum’s terrible driving and the insult of Auntie Debbie sitting in MY place in the front seat, order and dignity have been restored and I’m back in my rightful position where I can be the boss of the car.

🐾 Terriers, get your humans ready – TU Family Week is coming! ♥️

From 17-23 August, we are celebrating something very special in the TU : FAMILY.

The idea was inspired by the Sato Ohana, and by a truth we terriers understand very well – family is not only the family you are born into. Family can also be the people and animals you find, choose, love and keep showing up for.

And maybe that is what has happened here too.

A photo shared. A silly comment. A birthday remembered. A paw sent when someone is having a hard day. A shared laugh, heartache witnessed. Lots of everyday “likes” that, somehow, have grown into real bonds across countries and screens.

So next week we are going to spell FAMILY the TU way. Each day has a prompt, and you can start sniffing through your camera roll now:

🐾 F – FAVOURITE
Share a favourite photo, toy, treat, person or place.

🐾 A – ADVENTURE
Take us on a walk, outing, holiday or one of those little everyday adventures that became a big deal because a terrier was there.

🐾 M – MISCHIEF
We know you have evidence. Shredded paper? Stolen socks? Muddy paws? A very innocent face? Show us your finest terrier mischief.

🐾 I – INSEPARABLE
Who is your terrier’s person, sibling, best friend or partner in crime? Show us the bond.

🐾 L – LOVE
A cuddle, a kiss, a sleepy paw on your leg, a welcome-home dance – share what terrier love looks like in your family.

🐾 Y – YESTERDAY
Take us back. Puppy days, adoption day, an old adventure, a treasured memory or a beloved family member we still carry in our hearts.

🐾 23 August – OHANA DAY
This is simply about your family – however it looks. Humans, terriers, siblings, friends near and far, and all those special souls who became part of your story along the way. Angel Apollo @estellesato taught us well, and we all know that our Angels are forever part of our family too.

One photo and a few words are enough. Old pictures are welcome. New pictures are welcome. Funny, ordinary, tender and slightly chaotic are all very welcome. Use #tufamilyweek2026
